Jerry Ward Obituary
Jerry R. Ward, treasured husband, father and "Poppie" passed away on October 18, 2017. He was born on November 22, 1940 in Palestine to Theodore Roosevelt Ward and Virginia Gilmore Ward.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Kaspar Ward, of Palestine; daughter, Kathy Kenney, son-in-law, Ernest Kenney of New Braunfels; son, Matthew Love, daughter-in-law, Mary Love, of Anthem, Arizona; daughter, Sarah Skloss, son-in-law, Kevin Skloss, of Palestine; brother Teddy Ward and wife Rinda Ward, of Palestine; and his grandchildren; Andrew Kenney, Lauren Kenney, Samuel Skloss, Emma Skloss and Emerson Love; and a large and loving extended family along with his best friends of over 40 years Bob and Jill Seay. We would also like to recognize the many friends that Jerry accumulated along his journey of life.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Kenney, Kevin Skloss, Joshua Kaspar, Andrew Kenney and Samuel Skloss. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Love, Emerson Love, Robert Seay and Jim Castanada.
He worked for over 40 years as an Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved being a member of the Disciples Sunday school class at First Christian Church in Palestine. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and going to their many activities.
Jerry never met a stranger, always had a hug and a smile for everyone and always took the time to get to know those that crossed his path.
The family extends their thanks and gratitude to the East Texas Hospice Center of Tyler. Thank you, also, goes to all those who shared their love and prayers during this difficult time.
Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Christian Church, Palestine, Texas.
