Rachel and Family:
I enjoyed getting to know and work with "Rod" as we called him at the VA. He was a genuine, kind man with a good sense of humor. I know how you feel, after losing my own husband 2 1/2 years ago. Rod is at peace with the Lord and is watching over you. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

My sister, Tonya has singed in for our family but I too wanted to tell Rachel how much we love all of your family, it is hard to believe that is has been 34 years since we first moved in next door to you. I remember the Tornado Warnings and us haveing to come to ya'lls house because we had no basement, the jam sesions that we got to listen to the munedo and tamale "making parties" and being around your whole family and always feeling like we were one of the gang, you both have been the best of freiends to my parnets and i want you to know that JESS will be truly missed, and all of our prayers are with your family at this time.

My family met Jess and Rachel 34 years ago when we lived next door to them and have remained friends ever since. I was only 2 or 3 but i remember a lot about it. I remember making "manure" (i couldn't say menudo), him singing (my favorite was "Sneaky Snake") and more recently all the times at Lake Texoma. Jess will be greatly missed! I hope Jess and Rachel know how many memories they have given to me and my family over the years and how much we love them. Rachel know our prayers are with you and the boys.

Dear Aunt Rachel and family,
Uncle Jess touched so many lives. I still remember when he came home from the war. He brought me a pink record player. I played that thing for years! I also remember him trying to see if I could bite my big toe! I will miss him as will many others. I love you all.

Dear Rachel and Family,
You already know how much Jess will be missed by so many, including his Derby High School classmates. Those who saw his talent as a great dancer in those long ago years are not surprised that music continued to be such a rich part of his life. May your good memories of so many years together comfort you--and may Jess rest now in peace. God bless your family.

Today, my father called and told me about Jess. There are so many memories of the fish fry's at the Johnson's. Rachel, Mike, and all our friends who have known our families for years will always remember Jess as a loving person whose heart was full of laughter. Although a few years have passed since I last saw Jess and Rachel I remember him sitting in his chair in the back yard, under the tree visiting with old friends that met every June for the fry's. Those were great times. Our deepest condolences are with the Rodriguez family. Mike, I know my brother will help you through this, he loved your dad too. Our prayers are with you all. I met J-Rod about seven years ago as we both excercised at the same time at the Derby Senior Center. He was such a joy to know and to have him as a friend. Even though I moved five years ago, I still miss him and our coffee visits. Jess was a great person, and my hero as a veteran. Rest in Peace my friend.

Jess was my most precious friend. He was the finest singer and drummer I ever had the pleasure to work with for over 15 years as part of 4-Wheel Drive Band. But our relationship went far beyond that. He was like a brother and we shared so many good times together that I could write a book about it. He touched thousands of lives with his music, humor, faith and generosity. I'm really going to miss him. To Rachel, Mike, Mitch and Jeff, my sympathy and praryers are with you at this time of loss and always. God bless you Jess and your wonderful family.

There is a silent strength within each soul, and that strength is multiplied for those who remember that they do not walk in their path alone. Written by Thomas J. Edwards.
We will fondly remember the fun Jess brought into our personal lives and the humor he brought to the Four Wheel Drive Band.
May the universe shine brightly on Rachel, Mitch, Mike, Jeff and their families.
