Jesse Bass, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 2, 2024.
Jesse Otis Bass, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, surrounded by love. He is survived by his partner, Bobby Boeche; his daughters Camille, Kathryn Hermie (Bruce), and Kimberley; his granddaughters, Abigail and Finley Hermie; and his ex-wife, Marian. He was born to Therese and Jesse Otis Sr. in July 1943, in Reserve, Louisiana, and his younger brother, Gene, arrived in 1946. When he was around 9, the family moved to Radnor, Ohio. But his Cajun roots remained strong--his love for gumbo and beignets was permanently stamped into his daughters' hearts and souls. He honorably served in the Navy, and graduated from The Ohio State University, where he met Marian. They married in 1970, moved to Arizona, had 3 daughters, and he obtained his Masters degree from Arizona State University. In 2006, after moving to California, he met Bobby, and they lived happily together for nearly 18 years in San Diego. He was a career educator: first a teacher, then a principal, and finally a school administrator until he retired. He loved golf, just like his mom did, and worked on a course to stay busy after retiring. His family brought great joy to his life, as did his sweet, goofy lab, Mac. We know he was lovingly welcomed on the other side by his mother, father, and brother; his late granddaughter, Emmery; his cousin; and Mac. The family will have a private ceremony, but if you would like to donate to a cause in his memory, please do so with The Humane Society of the United States (https://www. humanesociety.org/).
