HENDERSON - Jessie Mae Walker Lunsford, daughter of Carl Pat and Annie Rae Wallace Walker, was born June 8, 1918, in Laneville, Texas, and she went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, July 18, 2008, in Tyler, at the age of 90 years, one month and 18 days.
She was united in marriage with Burdeen Lunsford, and to this union five children were born. In 1992, Burdeen preceded Jessie in death after 57 years of marriage.
Jessie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 11 years. She was later baptized by her husband. For more than 20 years, she taught Sunday school for the Assembly of God Church. She was very active in the service of her church and for her Lord. For the past 16 years, she had attended the Carlisle Baptist Church.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She devoted her time to them in being a strong, nurturing mother, giving them unconditional love and guidance. She loved to cook for her family; homemade rolls, fried pies and fried chicken were her specialty. She was a loving grandmother, a wonderful caretaker for family and friends alike, and above all, she was a prayer warrior for all. Jessie always had a bright smile and a sweet disposition. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Jimmy Lynn Lunsford; two daughters, Martha Sharon Lunsford, infant, and Mary Jane Clem; her sister, Imogene Matlock; and two brothers, C.P. Walker and Bailey Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jerald Lunsford and his wife, Linda, of Longview; her daughter, Patsy Riggs and her husband, Keith, of Price; a son-in-law, Stan Clem of Henderson; and one sister, Geneva Woods of Price. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jerry Riggs and his wife, Bonnie, of Price, David Riggs and his wife, Karen, of Stafford, Virginia, Craig Lunsford, Christy Comer, Lori McNeese and her husband, James, of Longview and Steve Clem and his wife, Laura, of Los Lunas, New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Austin Riggs of Price, Trevor Riggs of Stafford, Virginia, Grace Lunsford, Casey and Justin Comer, Jeremy Comer and his wife, Michelle, Shelby, Corbin and Mabry McNeese of Longview and Chelsea and Connor Clem of Los Lunas, New Mexico; one great-great-grandchild, Brayden Comer of Longview; and nephews, Dale and Johnny Matlock of Pasadena, Texas, and Bailey Walker of Brandon, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at the chapel of Crawford-Crim-Bryan Funeral Home, with Frank Holrath officiating. Private interment will be in Laneville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Craig Lunsford, James McNeese, Justin Comer, Jeremy Comer, Steve Clem and Jerry Riggs.
In her honor, memorial contributions may be made to either the Carlisle Baptist Church Building Fund or the Spring Hill First Baptist Church Building Fund, and may be left with the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. this afternoon, July 20, 2008, at the funeral home.
Special memories may be left in either audio or written guest books at www.mem.com.
