Mrs. Monroe was my 2nd MaDear. We became neighbors when I was 2 years old. She was a nurturer and Loved Children. When I became an adult, she would often recall fun and warm stories of Monica, Janet, and I. She was indeed a natural teacher (whether in education or the church.) Many lives have been touched and made better because of her. So grateful to God that she was a large part of my life.
Many Joyful Memories,
Phyllis Byrd Jenkins

IT WAS A BLESSING AND AN HONOR TO WORK (7YEARS) FOR AND BE IN THE PRESENCE OF SUCH A PHENOMENAL WOMAN. WITHIN MY FIRST FEW MONTHS OF WORKING WITH MRS.MONROE SHE SAID; " YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER, YO MOMA MIGHT HAVE HAD YOU BUT YOU'RE MINES." SHE ACCEPTED ME INTO HER FAMILY RIGHT AWAY AND I WAS HONORED. I LOVED HER AS MY 2ND MOM ( DADDY MONROE AS WELL). MORRISON DR WAS MY 2ND HOME AND THATS EXACTLY HOW THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS AT HOME AND NOT AT WORK. A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT COME ACROSS AWESOME AND WONDERFUL PEOPLE SUCH AS THE MONROE'S. I THANK GOD HE LEAD MY PATH TO THEM. THIS HAS BEEN AN AMAZING 7YEARS AND MRS.MONROE WILL FOREVER BE IN MY HEART. REST IN LOVE MY SWEETIE PIE..." I LOVE YOU JESSIE MAE BRADLEY MONROE!!" FOREVER

Mrs. Monroe was my favorite teacher. I remember going home with her for the weekend with Monica. Attending Grambling State games visiting with her Sister who lived in Grambling. Mrs. Monroe held close to the saying It Takes A Village and she was mine. Love you and take your rest.

I considered Sister Monroe as family; however, I never got a chance to attend one of those family reunions with her in Ring Gold, LA. I quickly accepted and acknowledged her as kin because of her sweet, generous and kind heart. When she found out that I sew, she did not stop until she gave me some fabric to make something for myself. I loved her so much because after hugging and talking to her, I was reminded of my deceased mother. Her presence felt like family. I will miss her immensely.
