It shocked me when I open the email. Jay was my first contact as a team member, I met him in the LA Airport in 2016. I still remember that myself, Jay and Mario travelled from Airport to Hotel and we had very memorable time in that meet. Later whenever the services meet happens at San Diego we will be having good time. He is very nice and respectful person and extends his help whenever needed. He is one comes in mind when I need any help or chat during the office hours. I feel a big gap without him. Rest in Peace Jay. May god bless your family.

As with everyone here, I was shocked to hear the news. Jay was someone I could always go to to help answer a question at work. Somehow our conversations would always include a few minutes of how his girls were doing with sports and school. He was a very proud dad. You have my deepest sympathies.

Dear Ping, Iris and Helena - we are so sorry to hear of your loss. Jay always had a smile on his face. He shared how much joy he got from watching Iris and Helena play sports. When the camper pulled up in front of your house, we knew you all were on your next big adventure. We are here to support you in any way. Your puppy is welcome to join our pack if you need a break (I promise their bark is simply saying hi!) and I'm happy to help with Iris and Helena, Ping. Whatever you need, we're here; just across the street. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts break for all of you. Please take care of yourselves during this time of sadness. With love -

I'm really saddened and shocked to hear about Jay's passing. My heartfelt condolences for his family. I got to work with Jay only for a few months, never met him in person but he left a mark of being someone with a great work ethic and professionalism, but more importantly it clearly showed how much he dotted on his daughters and wife when he spoke about them or balanced his work and life. The messages I see here re-iterate the same and I'm relieved to see the amount of emotional support pouring in for his family. We'll certainly miss him and his warm nature. I pray that the family finds peace and be able to move on from this grief.

I was fortunate to have known Jay. Jay knew how to balance work and play. At work, we had fruitful and fun-filled collaborations. Outside of work, we enjoyed hiking and eating. He taught me to enjoy sushi. He even introduced Josie and me to the best places to eat in Chicago's Chinatown! He will be sorely missed.

Dear Ping, it was a big shock to hear Jianyong passed away and please accept our condolences to you and your family. In our memory, he is a great husband and father taking great care of his family. We remembered that he drove the RV and brought the family to many beautiful places. He brought his two lovely daughters to their soccer trainings and tournaments.
He is a diligent, persistent and strong person. I remembered that no matter how cold and hot it is, he trained very hard for Berlin Marathon, the red gorge long distance run and other marathon events. He loves running and runs anywhere.
He is a humble person and a great leader in local community. He was involved in a lot of Chinese school and community activities but never told others what he has done.
Jianyong, we are going to miss you and bless you will live peacefully in the heaven with God.

Dear Jay,
It was with shock I received the news of your passing. We were colleagues for 15 years, and although we were so far away in distance, me sitting in Switzerland and you in Indiana, and although there were sometimes years between we met in person I can without hesitation say that I felt a strong connection and friendship with you. When other may dread flying ten hours and more for a company event, I always knew that at least I would have a beer, many laughs and a long chat with you, where we would talk family, work and life. You always took great pride in your family and heritage and especially your daughters, just as you took our work very seriously while never losing your wonderful sense of humor. A small memory, when we found out that we not only both became proud fathers of daughters within a few months, but that we both independently had named them Iris, it was a delightful surprise that I carry with me to this day.
Finally, I can only imagine the loss for your beloved wife and daughters, and I extend my sincerest condolences for them.
Your friend

Jay and I were hired at almost the same time back in the old Symyx days, and he was always one of my closer colleagues at Symyx/Accelrys/Biovia. I was lucky to also become his friend and meet his family several times (and even eat home-made dumplings at their house in Mason and make Lego towers with Iris). I choose to remember Jay as the happy, fun-loving, and smart-as-a-whip guy from those days, and as the proud father of his two lovely girls. I will miss him a lot.
