Jim Butemeyer

Funeral service for Jim Butemeyer, 89, of Lawton, OK and Wichita Falls, TX will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 with a special viewing and visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Butemeyer passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 in Lawton, OK.

Jim was born on December 26, 1935 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Homer and Gladys (Branch) Butemeyer. He grew up in Lawton, graduating from Lawton High School in 1955 where he played football and was state record holder in track. After graduation, he moved to Wichita Falls, TX and worked at Midas Muffler and then became the manager of the gun department at Defoors. He married Patsy Cox on June 6, 2003 and was married until her passing in 2020. Mr. Butemeyer married Claudette Taylor Burch on December 10, 2022 . Jim was devoted to the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and attended Centenary United Methodist Church when he lived in Lawton. He was an avid hunter and marksman and will be missed by all those that love him.

He is survived by his wife, Claudette, of the home; his daughter, Kerri Lynn Heller and husband, Dave, of Fairfield, VA; his granddaughter, Hailey Heller; his nephews, Brad Butemeyer and Lance Butemeyer; and many other loving family members and friends, including Keith Sinclair and Patrick Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Butemeyer; his brother, Don Butemeyer; and his infant daughter.
