When I was a kid, Jim Kelly was one of them favorites. I like when he beat the cops in the movie for calling him a jig. I still have problems with racist today.

I met Jim for the first time while playing tennis at Oceanview Park in San Diego. It was great because it was the great Jim Kelly, you know, Enter the Dragon and all. I then ran into him at Kearny Mesa Court where I worked years later. Then, he told me about his health issues. I had much respect for Jim. It is yet hard to believe he is gone. But, he has nomore pain. Deputy Doug Bowen, Retired

I just learned tonight that Jim Kelly who I've known for the past 10 or so years passed away this year on June 29th of cancer. I had been thinking about him and that I hadn't seen in awhile. Originally I met Jim at the Poway 24 hour fitness and we rapped a lot and then consistently bumped into each other at the Trader Joe's in Carmel Mountain Ranch, at the 24 hour fitness in Penasquitos and would always bump into each other at car parks, etc. We'd exchange cards and contact, but mostly just spontaneously rap about how things were going. Jim also was a tennis pro and lived in Coronado and La Jolla as well as spending time in Los Angeles still connected to the movie industry. He also dabbled in real estate. He was a sweet big strong gentle guy. Hard to believe he's gone. I'm sad that I won't see his positive smiling face again and his tall lanky exquisite posture that despite his age seemed to exude grace, strength, health and vitality. He knew I wasn't a follower of the Kung Fu movies and so I can't say I ever watched any of his movies he co-starred in with Bruce Lee but I'm sure they were memorable for the genre. I am sad he's gone and am more keenly aware of how fragile and fleeting our time is on earth. I wish him peace and blessings. Sincerest condolences to his family and close friends. He was a gentle giant.
