Jim Kelly Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 13 to Dec. 17, 2022.
Jim Kelly passed away peacefully on November 7th surrounded by his loved ones. Jim was born on April 6th, 1949 in Rockville Center, New York. In the 1960s Jim worked in the music business for Don Law. In the 1970s, he moved to Colorado, found his calling as master plumber, and started his first plumbing business. He also served as lieutenant for the local mountain fire department.

In the early 1980s, Jim met his wife Janna. They eventually moved to Vermont where Jim started The Pipeworks, and their daughter Livia was born.

Jim loved his customers and his work. Quick with a story and a smile he was adored by many. His generosity was immense, and his heart was huge. He is deeply missed by his wife and daughter, as well as countless friends and family. Known for flashing the peace sign to everyone while driving in his truck, we ask that you honor him by flashing a peace sign of your own.

A celebration of Jim's life is planned for the spring.

I met Jim in 1988 at 86 Canal St. where he had an office. We chatted often there and his warmth carried through across the years to when I would run into him on the street or driving by. I am sad that he is not a physical part of my broad Brattleboro community any longer, and will long remember his "twinkle factor".

Jim was a wonderful friend of mine, we shared many stories about our dogs and the love we both have for them. I just read of Jim's passing today and I feel much better as my dog passed away yesterday and I know that he will take care of him for me. Thank you for sharing Jim with us.

I only knew Jim for the fact that he did work for my family. However, he would often stop in just to give my dog treats and give her some lovin´. In the summer I could be in my house and hear, "Heeeelllllo gorgeous" and he wasn´t talking about me. He loved Speckles. I always told her that her boyfriend was here. Any man who loved animals was great in my book. We will miss his visits. My deepest condolences to the family. Very sincerely, Lori Larue

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim´s passing. Jim was a remarkable man in numerous ways. It was always a great pleasure to run into him and share a bit of time, cribbage or conversation. Of his many qualities, some I admired were his kindness, generosity and unfailing good humor. It´s hard to believe he no longer lights our world. With My deepest condolences to Janna and Liv.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Jim always had a great smile. We had a long conversation once about whether we were related because he looked so much like my Kelly side. We live up the hill from you on Kimball Hill. Thank you for posting his obituary. We will miss seeing him.

I'm saddened to have just found out about Jim's death. I have fond memories of his visits to the Mole's Eye at the end of the work day - always with a joke or two at the ready, and always willing to lend a hand with the Brooks House's balky plumbing. A good man, with a heart of gold - my condolences to the family.

Jim put the heating in our 1843 Cape in 1990. I think that was the last crawl space he ever did! He said it was pretty creepy. He just took our our garbage disposal this year. Always our go to guy. He was a great friend and a great man.

I am so missing my friend. Jim Kelly was a gift to people who knew him. I miss his wit and his advice and company. Professionally he was my go to guy and never blinked at whatever crazy bathroom design I came up with. Most plumbers just walk away from you when you show up with a 1920´s surgeon hand wash sink for your project, not Jimmy he dived right in and we got it done. We always had fun and put together some special bathrooms that will live on.
I would gladly get double skunked for ever for one more chance to hangout with him!
Well maybe not forever......

My sincere condolences to Jim's family. I met Jim when he moved to Nederland, Colorado. He was so loved by all there and our *go to* guy for so many things besides plumbing. He was a fireman, an electrician, a fixer upper/helper, our *main guy* on 1st/3rd base when we gathered every Saturday afternoon at the Nederland High School football field to play baseball and a true friend to all. ~ R.I.P. *Kelly* Love and Peace to you, dear friend.
