I called Jim this morning about a job and his phone was disconnected. So I went searching online and discovered that he had died. I was both saddened and shocked. Jim had been our carpenter for over thirty five years and we always had conversations about our children when he was here. He was a master carpenter and my home is filled with his fine work. He will be sorely missed.
My deepest condolences to the family.

I suddenly had the urge to search for Jim's name and discovered his obituary. I'd just told a client who is a young artist in Northern Liberties the story of my high-school/college friend Jim, our then friendship, and his art and it brought back many, mostly happy, memories and some regrets. I know this guest book will dissapear in a few days but if anyone reads it, please communicate my sincere sympathies and regards to George, Kathleen, and Mary and Smitty for their loss.
