Happy Birthday Jim, we celebrated your birthday with a toast of Lemonchillo at midnight although you would have preferred Saint Emilion.
You would have been well impressed as Whitehaven won the recent cricket match against Workington, Stephen led the team to a close run victory by 4 balls, Liam retired on 25 and took 3 catches, it was all very exciting.
We miss you and always will, we will continue to look after Kath for you. Sleep well old pal.
Love Bob, Di and Liam.

Hi dad
sorry it is so late, but happy fathers day. I am still missing you everyday. I would give anything to have you back for just one more day. I find it so hard not having you in the office next door to go into and help me out. Tara is still looking after me and picking up my mess, just like you and mum once did.
I miss you so much and wish you were still here.
all my love

Hello Kath, hello Paul & Tessa, hello Andrew and Steven. I also would like to express my true and howl sympaty to you in few of the incomprehensible trueness. This were really unfortunate and sad news, witch has been recieved me by my sister Uta Schiwek from Germany. As I heard from this incredible, sad act of god, I was still quiet for a longer while and unable to say something..cause I know this unbelievably moments of mourning in the few of the sudden death of a true loved person which is/was standing close to you.
It`s hard to accept it and much more harder to find some words, witch could spent a little bit honest comfort for all of you. But, so what - thats also a part of life which we all have to "manage", deeply impressed of this irrefutable truth. I belive that Jim`s soul will stay with you, for all the time, spending you the necessary force and love to continue your life without him. Eckart
Looking good in skirts.

Jim,
Whenever you were my Sgt you were so much fun, especially working at Cleator Moor, when you tried your damnest to move onto our shift pattern & displace Gary so you could work more shifts with us. They were the best of times. Going into Whitehaven isn't the same without you putting your smiley face around the office door or sending an e-mail to say you had beaten me in!
More importantly, being best friends with you & Kath were great, the visits, the nights in or out as well as the holidays to Dusseldorf & Budapest were a great laugh. Shame we didn't get to Prague as a foursome.
Having coffee or a bottle of wine, or several won't be the same without you there.
Take care & we will be there for Kath & your boys, as you would be for me if it was Bob that had left xxx

Jimmy,
I never had a brother until you came along, when you arrived at Whitehaven we hit it off straight away, you were fun to be about and had a very wicked sense of humour, suppose you needed one to support Sunderland.
Onewine-fueled night at yours the plan was hatched to wear kilts at our forthcoming wedding, well you went mad ' I'm not wearing a skirt'; that was it sealed it had to be kilts, I actually thought at one stage that I had gone too far and you would not be my bestman, I needn't have worried, you came though it all in a panic strewn few hours, I got to the Ennerdale at the appointed time with my boys dressed to kill in our kilts, to find you in jeans and in a flap, someone had changed your kilt since the fitting......No you were fitting it on your belly and not your waist........talk about keeping the groom calm before his big day !!!!.
The gap in our lives since last Wednesday has been as large as the Tyne tunnel, rest in peace my brother and best friend.
We will meet one day on the other side, when you can take me for a beer. Take care my pal.

Jim, you were a great boss and I will always remember the day you interviewed me and instantly put me at my ease, as was your way with people.
I was very sadened to hear about your passing and am sure that the Crime Desk will never be the same again without your presence.
My thoughts are with your family at this time and may they be able to take some comfort from how well thought of and respected you were within the community
You will be missed

So sorry to hear of Jim's untimely demise. I knew him when I worked as a reporter with the Whitehaven News in the 1990s and whenever our paths crossed, as they often did, he was invariably good humoured, straightforward, honest and helpful. Thanks for that, Jim. You will indeed be sadly missed.

Jim.. I just wanted to say that you were the best boss anyone could wish for and you will be missed so very much. The office won't be the same without you. Me and Wendy went into your office today to get some leaflets.. we stood by your desk for a while reminiscing about things..your Sunderland mug was on your desk just as you left it.. we were gonna wash it but decided to leave it as it was. It just won't be the same without you... you have been taken far too soon!
To Kath & Family... you are in my thoughts

our heartfelt condolences go to our dear sister-in-law kath and our belovered nephews and then our memorys stray to our belovered brother who was always very helpful and supportive to his elder sisters including child minding. He introduced his nephews to his belovered sunderland team whom they still support today. When he joined the police we were very proud but sadly due to pressures of work and distance between us close contact evaded us but was never more than a thought away. God only takes the best leaving his family to try and soldier on without him which will be a mammoth task indeed. from sisters linda and joan brothers-in-law john and sydney also neice and nephews.

I heard that when Jim arrived at the Pearly Gates, St Peter was there to meet him. He said, "Jim, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you will never have to see Bolton beat Sunderland again and the bad news is that you only made the subs bench on God's team!!"
I'll finally leave you all with this thought......As flowers are made sweeter by the the sunshine and the dew, so this old world is made brighter by the lives of folks like you.

Jim, you were a great colleague and friend. We were promoted around the same time and spent many unearthly hours giving each other updates. Your advice to me was always good, but your favourite subject? Your family. You can see how proud they are of you on here, but it was obvious to me how proud you were too.

Jim, we met only once in a happy moment to celebrate your son’s and my daughter’s marriage and I do remember your hearty laughter at the other side of the table and how you and Paul enjoyed being together, talking and having fun together. It is sad beyond expression that somebody who loved life so much should have to leave it so suddenly and so unexpectedly. We, Monika and I, were looking forward to getting to know you better, as grandparents to a wonderful grandson, Samuel. Now God has seen fit to take you to him, most untimely and really long before everybody around you could imagine. It is sad, but in my own life I have had to learn that things happen in ways we consider cruel and unfair. We can only trust that there is some sense in this bereavement we do not immediately see.
Kath, let me express our heartfelt condolences to you and your family which includes my daughter, so to us. Whatever we can to help you in your sorrow we will do.
Let us be good grandparents to Samuel. Paul and Tessa will take care of themselves.

Hi Dad,
Words can't describe how I am feeling right now. You were a great father and I would not be where I am today without you. You always looked after Steven, Andrew, and me no matter how much trouble we were in. Samuel is also going to miss you very much and I am really sorry he is not going to know you as well as we did. It's not going to be the same watching the Sunderland-Everton match over Christmas - last year you were not very happy.
It's been great over the last few years with you and mum visiting Germany a lot, especially when the Christmas markets were on, and I am really going to miss having you here
I love you so much and am really going to miss you.

As many others here I don't know what to say. … You and Kath were always so happy together, the perfect match – you set the example for Paul and me.
I will always remember my first time in a football stadium with you (watching Sunderland of course). I loved it and have since wanted to see another one with you and the boys.
I miss my great father-in-law and Samuel will miss having a great grandfather who has been there for him, playing with him for hours with his 'autos' (Samuel's eyes were always shining brightly when you two played together…).
Kath, I don't know how to express how sorry I feel for you. I will try to help you and the lads through this difficult time as best as I can,
Lots and lots of love, hugs and kisses and so much more

What a lovely, considerant and geniune man you were. My lasting memory of you will be talking to you and Kath in the supermarket the day before you died. You were both laughing about your recent trip to Germany, with the waterbed and the little ducks. You had a way of making people laugh with your quick wit. We will miss that Jim, and we will never forget you. Our sympathy goes to your lovely wife Kath, and your sons Paul, Steven and Andrew, who we know you were proud of.
All our memories of you Jim will last forever. R.I.P. Miriam and Will
