Jim Guy was quite simply one of the greatest public servants of his generation. He led "from the front" - always - and excelled in nearly every task he undertook, be it in the political, athletic, business or social realm. Jim Guy also always made a concerted and organized effort to aid and assist the less fortunate in our society, and he carried this trait with him from his early days as a Prosecuting Attorney to his years in the Arkansas Governor's Office. In an age where so many public figures, both in business and politics, seek to promote themselves, Jim Guy always sought to put the spotlight on others, and in doing so made them, and each and every one of us, much better citizens in the process.
God Bless him and his outstanding Family... Arkansas and the Nation have lost a Warrior, and Heaven has gained an enlightened soul...

I did a highly personal podcast with Jim Guy, just a few weeks before he died. He was always thinking about others, first. He had called me accidentally on FaceTime, so I became very aware of his condition, early stage Alzheimer´s, tube feeding, but the next day, I picked him up for breakfast at the Capital Hotel, and he was remembering things in detail.

Attorney General Jim Guy was my first boss out of law school in 1973. His guidance, wit, and wisdom (and sometimes his tolerance with me!) were foundation blocks throughout my career. I also had the privilege to serve as his ABC Director when he was governor. We never lost contact, but most important to me, in the last dozen years or so, we became good friends. Again I was privileged to his wise counsel as we shared some laughter, our love of music, and enjoyment of life. He was a man of unwavering principle and compassion for others. He represented the best as a public servant and will be deeply missed. I´ll always be thankful for having known him.

My friend since high school, my apartment sharer in law school, Jim Guy was the best buddy anyone could ever have. He was never one to back down from a challenge, nor did he blame anyone but himself when did things didn't work out exactly as planned. Little Rock and Arkansas are better off thanks to the efforts and successes of Jim Guy Tucker. Godspeed, old friend.

I have some of my best memories spending time with Jim Guy. On the campaign or at the house he was always the same, smiling all the time. He was the best Governor I ever worked for. But more than anything he was a friend. He looked out for people and what was best for them. This loss hurts deep.

Jim Guy was welcoming and gracious and always gave me some of his time to chat and feel like I mattered. I respected him for his fight against great odds and courage to keep going on. Thanks for your friendship.

My condolences to the family. He was a very caring and generous man. He would contact me periodically over the first months and years, after my wife, Carrie Massey's liver transplant and offer prayers, and words of encouragement, because he knew exactly what were going through. He would say, "Hello Howard, I just had you and your bride on my mind, how is everything going?" He also liked getting updates on my little one, Sydney, at Harvard. Governor Tucker even helped us with insurance problems. He made us feel special.., and he will truly be missed!
