I remember Jimmie helping me learn to swim at the campus pool at Lamar in Beaumont. That was a long time ago and I have many more happy memories of her over the decades. I was saddened to hear of her passing and saddened that we had lost touch to the point of I'm just now hearing she is gone. She was bright and funny and determined. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Despite her best efforts, Jimmie wasn't able to teach me how to draw. But like the good teacher she was, she did help me to discover my own medium of creative expression. I will always think of her during March Madness, especially any time North Carolina meets Michigan State.

Jimmie was a dear friend and I miss her very much. I knew her when she lived in Rockport, we met through a book club and became fast friends. Jimmie was a talented artist who taught art and literature, she played the guitar and sang and loved the theater. She could light up a room and loved being the center of attention, she brought passion to everything she did.

Jimmmie was a great one in a discussion of books or art and was a talented artist. I feel lucky to have known her.
