For many years, he operated his own upholstery business in Roxbury. After retirement, he continued this passion by making pillows, neck warmers, and scarves with the logos of various Boston sports teams. He also had an interest in photography and sand art.

Beloved husband for twenty-six years of Joan E. Kerins-Love.

Father of James Vance.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Jimmie. We joined Boston EMS together back in 1988. Always the quiet unassuming guy, but a great EMT. He was wonderful with his patients, caring and understanding. Working one of the busiest trucks in the City, Jimmie and his partners always did the right thing, even well after their shift was over. Rest in peace classmate.

Sad to hear about Jimmie. He was a gentleman. Treated his patients with kindness and respect and all of us who worked with him. I only had the opportunity to work with Jimmie for a short time before he retired and it was a privilege. Driving to a call with a chicken wing in one hand and the steering wheel in the other. He answered the call, did his job, did it well, and was a good man! RIP

As a new EMT at Boston EMS, Jimmie was one of the guys who took me under his wing and showed me the "right" way to do the job. Over the years I had the opportunity to work alongside him. Jimmie always took great care of everyone, and truly cared about people, and will surely be missed by those closest to him .
