jimmie alphonso Neely

Jimmie Alphonso Neely, 94, of Berea, Ohio, passed away on November 6, 2023. He was born on October 17, 1929, in Dekalb, Mississippi. Jimmie was a humble and hardworking man who dedicated 40 years of his life as a skilled tradesman for General Motors from 1953 to 1993. He was also known as the neighborhood handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jimmie had a passion for sports, particularly the Indians Baseball team and the Cleveland Browns. He also loved cars and enjoyed working on them. His blessed life touched the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife, Jennie Neely, and his Sister Nola Washington, Ed, his children, Aaron Bernard Neely, Jeffery Neely, Sterling Battle, Greyland Battle, and grandchildren Carla Neely, Jeffery Neely Jr., Cassandra Neely (BHS grad 2005), Natasha Neely (BHS grad 2007), and Aaron J Neely (BHS grad 2015). He was also a proud great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Neely and Ina Neely, and his siblings Henry Clay, James Arthur, Benjamin Franklin, Marvin, Charlie, Ella, Mary,

Jimmie proudly served in the Army.

Jimmie worshipped at Mt Zion First Baptist Church in Berea.

In his free time, he enjoyed being a handyman, bowling, and operating a ham radio.
