Dear Michelle,
Barbara and I are so very sorry to learn of Jim's death. My brother (in Montreal) saw the obituary in the Montreal Gazette and sent it to us. We cherish the few times you, Jim, Barbara and I were together in Montreal and Victoria.
Dear Steve, Janice, Kim and Joanne.
Your dad and I first met in early September of 1951 when we were both at Macdonald College to prepare as teachers. Your parents were close friends of ours, even when we moved to Edmonton in 1969 and then to Victoria in 1998.
We shall think fondly of Jim and Joan and Michelle, Michelle's sons and the four of you later this morning when it'll be 1 p.m. in Montreal.
Our very sincere sympathy and love. Barbara and Myer

My sincere condolences to the Ellemo family. Jim was my grade 5 teacher at Parkdale school in the early 50's.I also knew him at St. Laurent high ,and at S>G>W>U night high school. I also played hockey with his brother Norm for Couiseneau Park. Jim was very kind to me and was also a great teacher
I would have been 11 years old and Jim would have been 20 or 21.
I now realize the job he did, because I was a high school teacher for 31 years. God Bless. Peter Whyte Burlington ,Ont.

Mr. Ellemo was our principal from 1972-1975 at the High School of Montreal. We were indeed a handful, but he dealt with us fairly and with respect at all times. We were lucky to have him and were saddened by the news of his death.

Very sad news indeed. My condolences to the entire family. It was Jimmy Ellemo who got me interested in birdwatching in grade 7 at Parkdale in 1955-56. Always remembered fondly as a great teacher and all around nice guy.

A very sad loss indeed. Deepest condolences to Janice and other members of the family. Jim Ellemo was one of the very best teachers I had during my time at St. Laurent High and always a source of wise counsel to his students. Later, I was privileged to be a colleague of Jim during his years as an administrator with the the PSBGM. I have always looked back on Jim as having represented all that was very positive in education. I'm extremely sorry to hear of his passing.

So sad to learn that the teacher who made the greatest impact on me and on my secondary education at Saint Laurent High School, Montreal has passed on. Mr. Ellemo was the one teacher at SLHS who was able to bring out the very best in me. As my home room teacher in Grade 10 (1960), I owe my scholarship to Grade 11 to his kindness, support, and sensitivity. I also used to appreciate his giving me a ride to DdesO on his way home to Pierrefonds along Gouin Blvd in his little VW, especially in those cold winter months. I've often thought about him and wished to reconnect. I know I have missed him but I will always value the time he spent with me and I will remember him fondly. My prayers and best wishes are with his family at this time.

Although I never had Mr. Ellemo as a teacher, he always impressed me as a teacher who never tried to put on a 'mask' of authority or importance. He always seemed to be open and at home with himself and the world. His voice projected a quiet security. My thoughts are with you who have been fortunate to have him as a parent, teacher, relative and friend.

To Steve, Janice, Kim and Joanne. Please accept my deepest condolences. I have many great memories of your dad driving us to swim practices, taking me along on camping trips, playing his banjo and being our official starter at swim meets. He was a big part of my childhood and I will always remember him fondly.
