Jimmy had a wonderful voice, and he was singing right up to the end, still sounding as good as he did in the '50s. RIP you talented man.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy Parkinson. He was one of our Australian music pioneers. Our best crooner ever. His voice was wonderful. His contribution to the formative years of Australian popular music is much more than most people would realise. My father, Ernie Davidson, was fortunate to have two of his songs recorded by Jimmy. The first in the early 1950's and the second one in 1964. My father was always very proud of what Jimmy Parkinson had done with his music. Rest peacefully Jimmy and thank you.

Jimmy will be remembered for all his achievements in his entertainment and music career but there is another part of Jimmy and a group that will sadly miss him. Jimmy and his wife Faye were members of Bonnie Doon Golf Club just a short distance from home. Some time after Faye's passing, Jimmy for better or worse became member of a select group within Bonnie Doon called the 10 O'Clockers, They would assemble every Saturday and try to apply their so-called golfing skills and ability and strive to become the best in the prevailing year. Jimmy at 88 years young was just as competitive as any of the other 20 or so in this playing group. Afterwards he enjoyed his glass/es of red wine, with just one ice cube just to take the warmth of the red.
At our annual "AGM" Xmas Luncheon, Jimmy never failed to bless us with his voice.
Jimmy was and will always be loved and remember by the 10 O'Clockers. Rest in Peace mate from all the boys.
