I was Jimys ( and his son Shawn) barber for many years in Palm Harbor, Florida.
One of my favorite memories of Jimi happened while I was cutting his hair. We had a shop full of men waiting that day and the conversation in the shop was all about baseball! I believe it was right after Jimi won the World Series with the Phillies against our Rays. Jimmy sat quietly in my chair listening to all the old guys in the shop arguing back and forth about baseball rules and statistics and in that moment none of the other clients in the shop knew that it was "the" Jimi Williams sitting in my chair!! Jimi patiently waited for the right moment to join the conversation proving all of the guys wrong with some real baseball facts, He put on a clinic that wowed the entire shop. I never said anything to all of the boys until I finished Jimis cut and he'd left the barbershop giving me a wink and a huge smile! It was then after Jimis drove away that I told all of those guys who they just received that lesson from and I'll never forget everyone's reactions, they were all so honored to have been in the shop listening to Jimmy talking to them about the sport! He was truly a legend, a gentleman and made such a difference in so many people's lives. It was an honor to know him and to have been his Barber. My most sincere condolences to his family.
With Respect,

I became friends with Jimy while I assisted Pee Wee Frazier who coached Jimy´s Arroyo Grande High Schools baseball team. I remember hitting ground balls and pitching to Jimy. He was 16 years old. He was a great guy and helped me coach my little league team. Throughout time I stayed close to him and attended his games on the West Coast.

Jimy and I were Arroyo Grande H.S. classmates. We both graduated in June 1961. Jimy was an Outstanding Student and Athlete. Very friendly and popular.
He was voted most likely to succeed. Which he did. In High School Jimy tagged me with the nickname of Bob White. I never knew why or what that meant.
I always looked forward to Jimy's presence. So sorry that he passed. Truly one of a kind. I am sure he will be missed by those that knew him.

As a former resident of Arroyo Grande, CA and a 1958 graduate of Arroyo Grande High School, I remember the Williams family. I was a member of the varsity baseball team when Jimy was a freshman starting at shortstop. He was a glutton for taking many ground balls in practice to continue improving his fielding ability. Coach Gene "Pee Wee" Fraser was instrumental in Jimy's development as an outstanding baseball player during his high school years. On a couple of occasions, I watched Jimy's teams in Baltimore and Angel stadium and recall him throwing batting practice. I would stand behind the first base dugout and he would recognize me. He would walk from the pitcher's mound to greet me, we would exchange a few words about Arroyo Grande and friends. Jimy never forgot his roots! May he rest in peace.

I will remember Mr. Williams coming to speak to our students at DHMS. I always appreciated that he woukd come and talk with our students. A great family and a very good man. He will be missed but he left a positive legacy for many. I am one who benefited meeting him.

Upon hearing of Jimy's passing. I immediately thought of our evenings watching our boys play from beyond the outfield fence at Dunedin LL. He was the truest of gentlemen. He loved to listen to others stories. His eyes would sparkle and he'd smile THAT smile. My heart goes out to Peggy and his kids who I STILL enjoy following in the careers. Thank you Jimy!
