Helen Annette Stoddard

Helen Annette Stoddard, 75, of Lake Limestone, passed away of natural causes at home on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. Annette was born Dec. 16, 1938, in Nacogdoches to Bonner Aubrey Wragg and Anna Mae Wragg. After graduating high school, she attended Nacogdoches Business School. She was united in marriage with Charles Herman Stoddard Sr. July 21, 1955, in Garrison. Annette built a career in banking in several Texas cities in which Herman's career took them, including Center, Conroe, Stephenville and Bryan-College Station. She attained American Institute of Banking certification through completion of training, education requirements and examination, and she passed along much of this knowledge as she influenced and mentored the many young banking professionals she managed. Annette and Herman moved to Lake Limestone permanently in 1997, naming their retirement home, "Texas Tahoe." She was a stellar hostess for many memorable family gatherings, and was a wonderful cook and recipe saver. She and Herman enjoyed taking their two granddaughters on many excursions throughout Texas, to Lake Tahoe, Nev., Breckenridge, Colo., and Santa Fe, N.M. She suffered ill health for a number of years but when she felt well she extensively researched the genealogy of both the Wragg and Stoddard families. She was an avid reader and "news junkie," and an excellent conversationalist with just about anyone. She loved her family, her friends, her books, the many special dogs throughout her lifetime and chocolate. Mrs. Stoddard was preceded in death by her parents and oldest son, Charles Herman Stoddard Jr. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Herman Stoddard of Lake Limestone/Thornton; daughter, Teresa Stoddard of Lago Vista; son, Mark Stoddard and wife, Linda, of Bryan; and two granddaughters, Lane and Lara.
