Joan Elaine Cisco

Joan Elaine (Sweeris) Cisco Kentwood - Joan Sweeris-Cisco passed away January 30, 2026 after a brief illness. She was 82 years young. Born and raised in McBain, Michigan. She was a graduate of McBain High School and a former Dairy Princess. Joan moved to Grand Rapids as a young adult. She obtained a 2-year degree from Davenport University in 1995 while a single mom raising 4 children. She retired in 2007 from Eastbrook Home Builders. In retirement she enjoyed traveling and her community of friends at her senior living apartment. She loved her 6th floor "penthouse" apartment and the easy living it provided. Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a smile or to lend a hand. Throughout her life she had a faith that could move mountains. "God will provide" was her favorite saying. She was right. God always did provide.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Nick and Ada Sweeris, her sister, Karen Noordyke and her nephew, Terry DeZeeuw.

She leaves behind her children, Sue (Warren) Bothwell of Caledonia; Jim (Joy) VandePol of Kalamazoo; Penny Cisco of Allendale; and Kristie (Todd) Darling of Caledonia. Her grandchildren, Nick Cisco, Shawn Hall, Olivia VandePol, Samantha VandePol and Paige Darling. Her favorite niece, Tamara (Don) Spaulding and favorite nephew, Tim (Ronda) DeZeeuw and her lifelong friend, Annette Bouma.
