Joan Citty Obituary
November 30, 2006 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at the columbarium of the Church of the Epiphany, 538 Henry St., Eden, N.C.
A native of Rockingham County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse W. and Avery Dehart Griggs and had lived her entire life in Eden. She attended local schools and graduated from the Women's College of the University of North Carolina. She taught at Morehead High School and later joined the faculty of Rockingham Community College where she served as Chairman of the Business Department and before retiring, served as Associate Executive Vice-President.
Surviving is husband, Hugh E. Citty of the home; two sons, Derrick Citty and wife Beth of Smith Mountain Lake, Va. and Ryke Citty and wife Kim of Benson, N.C.; three grandchildren: Wills Citty and Avery Citty and their mother Cindy Cheng of Raleigh, N.C. and Rylan Citty of Benson, N.C.
The family will see friends following the service at the columbarium.
The family requests no flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: The Citty Scholarship at Rockingham Community College, P.O. Box 38, Wentworth, N.C. 27375 or The Morehead Memorial Hospital Foundation, 117 East Kings Highway, Eden, N.C. 27288 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Citty Funeral Home in Reidsville is in charge of arrangements.

Hugh, My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Joan's influence in high school and then at RCC had a positive influence on me and she always seemed to stay interested even after 40 years. I will always remember you both fondly.

I live out of state and heard of Joan's death through my father. He worked many years with her at RCC. I am sorry to hear of your loss and wish you my condolences.
