Joan DRUMMOND Obituary
Peacefully at home, on Friday, August 18, 2017 in her ninety-third year. Dearly loved wife of the late John Drummond. Devoted mother of Tim, and the late Robin. She was "one of a kind", generous and compassionate but also strong-willed and independent with a wicked sense of humour. Joan will be so missed by Tim, by her "adopted brother" John Smith, by her many friends at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, The Ottawa Garden Club, the I.O.D.E. and by her second families, the Smiths and the Bouchers. A special thanks to Joan's friends/supporters in the Kingsmere Community. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa at 1:30 p.m. on Monday August 28, 2017, followed by a celebration of her life at 3:00 p.m., at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, 1405 Aylmer Road, Gatineau, Quebec. As an expression of sympathy, if desired, memorial contributions to the Lupus Clinic and Arthritis Centre at the Ottawa Hospital Riverside Campus, 1967 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 7W9, would be appreciated.

I'd just thought of Joan, and looked her up on line only to find her obituary. Joan was a good friend of my late mother Annette McLaughlin, and I last saw her at my mother's funeral some years back.

I treasure my long association with Joan on the board of the Andrew Fleck Child Care Centre and with the IODE. Wherever Joan was she lit up and led the company - quietly, steadily and humorously. She was a very special person.

So very sad to hear the passing of Mrs. Dummond. Deepest condolences to family and friends. My sister Nancy and I were Meech Lake friends of Robin and Tim. She was a wonderful Den Mother of many dance parties held at the Drummond cottage for the Meech Lake gang.
