Joan Alice Falzon

Joan (Zerafa) Falzon, age 87, passed away at home in Holbrook, MA surrounded by her family on Friday, January 26, 2024. Born in Trenton, NJ on September 25, 1936, Joan was the only child of Richard and Mary Jane (Fonde) Zerafa, both born in Malta. Although an only child, Joan grew up in a large extended family and Maltese community. She spent her childhood with her cousins including summers at her grandmother's house in Pennsylvania with her two dearest cousins Rosemary Panzitta and Bert Fonde, who were like siblings to her.

Joan was raised in Dearborn, MI and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit. She worked as a cosmetologist, bookkeeper, bartender and office manager. She resided in Michigan, Florida, and New Jersey before moving to Holbrook, MA in 2020 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Russell Eckel. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, play cards and scrabble, but her favorite activity was spending time with family. She especially loved to spend time with the children in the family and was always happy to sit and visit.

In addition to Paula and Russell, Joan is survived by son Patrick Falzon and his wife Kathy Falzon, son Peter Falzon and his husband Kevin Bohrer, and grandchildren Matthew and Robert Eckel and John, Robert and Anna Falzon.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 153 S. Franklin St, Holbrook, MA 02343.
