Joan Faunce was a woman of intelligence and principles. When I was a young man, I sought her guidance on very complex issue I was having with the school. Her response, to what she perceived to be an injustice, was one of the greatest acts of professional courage I have ever witnessed. I was awe struck by her courage then and I have carried its echoes with me throughout my life. Sometimes you find the most courageous hearts in the oddest places. Like, in a tiny little English Teacher in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Thank you Joan Faunce, you changed my life.

As long -time neighbors in Langhorne Manor, we didn't realize Joan was a Neshaminy HS athlete...BUT, now we know why Joan almost caught our pesky neighborhood gorilla. You never knew when it would appear. One night it rang her door bell one time too many. She quickly grabbed bananas and, as the gorilla started running down the street, she raced down the street after it waving the bananas. Good bad it vanished into the night. As well a being a fabulous Scrabble player, she was also very good at theatrics....especially as one of the Witches from Macbeth. Once, at a neighborhood party, she stirred the pot every time a neighbor appeared. She would stir and moan "double, double, toil and trouble". We wish we had photos of Joan to share ... we also wish you could hear her play the piano...by ear.
