Joan M. Foglia

Foglia, Joan M. WATERVLIET Joan M. Foglia, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 8, 2016, at her home in Watervliet. Born in Watervliet on November 10, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William J. May and Jessie Rielly May. Joan was a graduate of St. Patrick's School in Watervliet and Catholic Central High School in Troy class of 1957. A lifelong resident of Watervliet, she was a communicant of the former St. Brigid's Church. She was the devoted wife of 44 years of the late Richard F. Foglia whom she married on September 26, 1959. Along with her husband and family, she operated Chief's Saloon and Restaurant in Watervliet from 1992-97. She retired from the Albany County Chamber of Commerce. Her greatest joy was her family and her home. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She was the number one fan and supporter of the Foglia athletes. She also enjoyed singing, dancing and music. It was her heartwarming smile and laugh that made her so special. Her spirit lives on in her children, Nicholas (Shannon) Foglia, Richard Foglia, Christine (Thomas Sands) Foglia, Joseph (Linda) Foglia and Michael Foglia; her grandchildren, Michele Foglia, Nicholas (Mindy) Foglia, Maria Foglia, Jacob Foglia, Dominic (Mary) Foglia, Justin Foglia, Erin (R.J.) Berghela, Amy (Dave) Taylor and Jessica Sheridan, Teressa Foglia, Joshua, Lauren, Kristen and Megan Foglia. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Her most recent blessing, Dominick Francis Berghela; her brother, William (Marilyn) May, Jr.; her sister, Patricia Ethier and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs with Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie officiating. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Parker Bros.
