Joan Golden Fox

April 2, 1936 - December 6, 2024

Joan Golden Fox, 88, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, friends and community.

Born on April 2, 1936 to Hazel Davis Golden and John Timothy Golden, Joan led a life defined by compassion, creativity, and an unyielding dedication to her community. A devoted mother to her two children, Joan Leslie Fox (Fluff) and John Kimlie Fox (Kimlie), and a beloved grandmother to Justen Fox-Hall, Joan's love and support left an indelible mark on those she cherished most.

Joan's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. Her commitment to service extended beyond her congregation, as she participated in mission trips around the world, combining her love of travel with her desire to give back.

An artist at heart, Joan had an extraordinary talent for painting and crafting. As a longtime member of the Southern Hand Craft Society, she shared her creations at local craft shows, delighting her community with her beautiful and thoughtful works. Her artistic gifts were matched only by her generosity; Joan's crafts often became treasured gifts for loved ones, neighbors, and friends.

Joan's adventurous spirit shone brightly throughout her life. As a young traveling nurse, she saw the world while caring for others, maintaining her nursing license throughout her life as a testament to her dedication. She never lost her love of exploration, embracing her Scottish and Irish heritage by attending festivals and reveling in traditions that connected her to her roots.

In addition to her many talents, Joan was also a dedicated teacher in her lifetime, sharing her knowledge and skills with younger generations. She worked closely with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, mentoring and guiding countless children as they developed confidence, leadership, and life skills. Her patience, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire made her a cherished mentor and role model.

Known for her kindness and unwavering support, Joan was a steadfast presence in the lives of her family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate her great-grandchildren, always sending thoughtful cards for every holiday and birthday. She was a constant source of encouragement for her family, inspiring her grandson to pursue his dreams and passions from a young age with unwavering confidence, always reminding him of his potential and offering her support every step of the way. Joan's influence will forever be felt in the lives she touched, especially in the heart of her grandson Justen, whom she adored and inspired.

Joan was more than a mother, grandmother, and friend-she was a pillar of her community and a beacon of strength and generosity. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she impacted and the love she gave.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, on January 18th, 2025 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice or her church, continuing Joan's legacy of giving and community care.

She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

I remember Fluffy´s mom always busy doing things. She shuttled to swim practice & school. She took us all to Birthdays at the movies, she had dinners and evenings hanging out on the beach. Childhood memories that are still with me. Pam Smith, Idaho Falls.

My lifelong friendship with Joan began many years ago when we both began teaching at Lake Worth Junior High School. It continued through the birth of our children and our shared commitment to our church, St. Joseph´s Episcopal Church. I cherished our friendship as Joan was a wonderful person and a dear friend. I will miss her always smiling face. My love and sympathy go out to Fluffy and Kimlie and to all of her family.
