Joan Hart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 8, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Hart, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on March 6, 2024, at the age of 91. Joan's life was defined by love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Joan Darlene Bomke was born in Oakland, California, in 1932. After marrying her husband, Robert Hart, Joan embarked on a journey that took her from California to Nevada and eventually to Florida, where she would build a life filled with love and purpose.

A dedicated mother, Joan poured her heart and soul into nurturing her three children, Steve, Pam, and Doug. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, wherever they lived through their frequent moves in cities and towns across the western states.

Joan's role as a caregiver extended beyond her immediate family. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, providing them with cherished memories and invaluable life lessons.

Following the loss of her daughter, Pamela, Joan became a pillar of strength for her grandchildren, Robert, Michelle, Justine, and Austin. She stepped into the role of caregiver once again, offering unwavering support and guidance to her grandchildren as they navigated life's challenges. Joan's selflessness and boundless love left an indelible mark on their lives, shaping them into the remarkable individuals they are today. She also provided support to her grandson Andrew, especially after the loss of her son, Douglas.

Throughout her life, Joan's compassionate nature led her to extend a helping hand to those in need. In Panama City Beach, Florida, she dedicated herself to helping troubled youth at a local center, providing them with the support and guidance they needed to turn their lives around. Joan's kindness also touched the lives of numerous friends and neighbors, as she offered her assistance with shopping, transportation, and medical care without hesitation.

Joan's professional achievements were a testament to her intelligence, determination, and work ethic. Starting as a waitress in Nevada casinos, Joan worked her way up to become the first female Keno Manager in any Nevada Casino, showcasing her sharp mind and unwavering dedication to her craft.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Joan enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, from skiing down snowy slopes to basking in the warmth of the beach. Her infectious laughter and zest for life made her the life of every party, and she had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. She always said that she never met a stranger. Joan's magnetic personality and genuine warmth endeared her to all who knew her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

In her later years, Joan faced the challenges of declining health with courage and grace. Despite her struggles with macular degeneration, she remained resilient and continued to find joy in the company of her loved ones. Eventually, Joan made the difficult decision to move to California to live with her son, Steve, and daughter-in-law, Sue, where she continued to share her love and wisdom with her family and friends.

Joan Hart's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to inspire us all, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and the love that surrounds us.

Joan is survived by her son, Steve Hart, and his wife, Sue; her grandchildren, Brian Hart, Greg Hart, Michelle Greive, Justine Hall, Austin Dunham, and Andrew Hart; her many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hart; her daughter, Pamela Hart Dunham; her son, Douglas Hart; her grandson, Kevin Hart; and her grandson, Robert Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mainly Mozart or a charity of your choice, as she would have wanted to continue making a difference in the lives of others even beyond her passing.

Joan Hart may have left this world, but her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will endure for generations. Rest in peace, dear Joan, knowing that you are deeply loved and profoundly missed.

I was so very sad to hear the news of your passing. You was such an amazing caring and generous woman who did nothing but sacrifice for others and help in anyway you could. You never gave up on me and kept faith in my goodness even when I didn't believe in myself and that belief and faith you had in me helped me so much more then you ever knew. I really wish I would have gotten the chance to show you it east miss placed grandma but I know you can see from where your at. The world needs so many more people like you in it?!!you will forever be missed I love you grandma wish I could get one of your hugs one more time

Joan had more HEART and resilience than anyone else I've ever known. Despite suffering many losses over the course of her 91 years, Joan faced life with a smile on her face. She brought joy to all who knew her, even the most casual of acquaintances. To her family, she was the bedrock foundation of their lives. When Joan called you "darlin'", you knew that all was right with the world. She can never be replaced and she will be remembered with love always.

I always looked forward to crossing paths with Joan on our dog-walk ritual.
Always with a smile on her face and an obvious love for her loyal pooch, Joan will be remembered as a warm and wonderful person. She will be missed by so many whose lives she touched. Diane

Grandmother Hart always made the holidays so special. My favorite was spending Christmas Eve at her place every year; it always felt so magical as a kid. I am so thankful that I have years worth of memories to remember her by.
