Dear Uncle Dean and boys,
I just heard the news of Joan's passing. I'm sorry for your loss but gosh what a full, wonderful life she lived. So many memories of growing up in Westport, the visits to Catamount Road where Mum and Pop lived, the Christmas Eves spent all together with kids everywhere, the weddings and subsequent grandkids...life does indeed go on through the cherished memories of our loved ones. My mother, Dodie, is with me in spirit every single day. I rejoice that so many of the Ritter 'kids' are back together once again. I'm sure there's a lot of laughing going on up there!

Love to you all.

To Uncle Dean and all my lovely Maddock cousins,

It was wonderful and also very emotional, to see the short videos and the great older pictures from Rocky Ridge (I think) in Westport. I love the picture of Auntie Joan and Uncle Dean as "mere babies" sitting on the grass. WOW! What a beautiful couple! To hear Joan's voice in the video gave me quite a surprise as she sounded so much like my mum,(Rosalind).
I am happy you are all together. I have had many good thoughts over the past several days, remembering the visits to Muskoka and the fun we all had together.
Joan was such an amazing and very strong woman, raising all you boys! She has a terrific family. What a lovely tribute to her, that you are all together.
All good thoughts and much love to you at this bittersweet time,

cousin Penny xox

Thank you Glenn. Connie and I have shared lots of funny and pleasant stories the past week. She sends her best to all the boys and families as do Jody and I.

Thanks for your wonderful thoughts. Our Dad, Dean, is holding up well. All six of us boys (Drew, Brent, Todd, Kirk, Scott, and Glenn) got a chance to visit him for a few days this week, take him out for dinner, and talk about Mom and many other wonderful memories. Mom raised six sons, and she was always happy. What better life could you ever want?

To Dean, your sons and families,
Before her illness, Joan was always cheerful and very outgoing. She brightened the lives of all who knew her. Our hearts go out to all of you at this very sad and difficult time.
Sincerely.

To Dean and Your Six Sons: Please know that I'm thinking about you. I am glad that Joan touched my life through her positive outlook on life, her love of singing, and her effervescent sense of humor. I will always remember her. She often told me how much she loved her husband and family.

Love, prayers, and good wishes, your neighbor, Shirley Duggleby
