Joan Theresa Maio

Audubon - Joan Theresa Maio, aged 98, passed away on November 1, 2025, in Audubon, PA. Born on March 28, 1927, Joan dedicated her life to her family, profoundly marked by her devotion to her Catholic faith.

Joan was the beloved wife of Lori Maio, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage until Lori's passing in 2004. She was a cherished sister to her eight siblings and their spouses, all of whom predeceased her, and is much loved by her many nieces and nephews. Joan's legacy continues through her loving family, including her children, Anne Kalick, Peter Maio (Kathy), and Margaret Riley (Dave). She was a treasured Nana/Gram to Craig Kalick (Sarah), Eric Kalick (Krista), Sarah Lane (Adam), and Mitchell Riley, and a proud great-grandmother to Rhys, Zoey, Symon Kalick, and Penny Lane.

Throughout her life, Joan's passion for nurturing was evident in her role as a foster mother to nine children and in her career as a Teacher's Aid in the Neshaminy School District. Her commitment to her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, often praying the rosary and venerating the Patron Saints.

Calling hours will be observed on Friday, November 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA. Joan will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA. Joan's life was a testament to her loving spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
