MATHURIN, Joan Irene
November 14, 1933 - March 22, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Joan Irene Mathurin, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. We now truly know what that expression means. She was the cherished mother of Adrienne Cooper (Andi), Michelle Mathurin (Anne), and loving and beloved grandmother of Tristan Cooper (Two Tooth Boy). She will also be sadly missed by her close friend and cousin, Penny Schneller, who gave of her time and love endlessly; and by Penny's children, Adam (Roxanne), Laura (Adam), and Karen Schneller Nolan to whom she was a much loved, grandmother figure. She will be remembered with love and loyalty by her sisters-in-law Patsy and Marjorie Mathurin, and by staff and patients of the Britannia Medical Centre, where she worked for almost 40 years. She also leaves behind dear friends Lynne, and Cheryl, and the ladies from her "Stitch and B****" group. We invite friends to join us for a celebration of Mom's life, and to share your stories and memories of her. Mom always enjoyed a good laugh so, "no, no no, no, no" tears. The memorial service will be held at the Woodroffe Chapel of Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry 150 Woodroffe Ave (at Richmond) on April 2 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Central West Hospice, 1400 Carling Ave, are greatly appreciated. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the hospice who cared so lovingly and compassionately for our mother.
