Joan F. McGarry

Joan was a special lady - she lit up every room she entered. She was always kind and welcoming to me, and answered lots of silly questions when I was new to RiverStone without ever getting impatient. Just today, someone did something kind for me that reminded me of Joan - simple gestures for others (accompanied by a smile and a wink especially) will always remind me of her. She clearly loved her family fiercely and talked about you all the time. I miss her very much and am so sorry for your loss.

To Joan's family....I am so so sorry to hear of Joans tragic passing. I knew. Joan through Walgreens Pharmacy in Bedford. I run the cosmetics department and often chatted with Joan about the newest make up and what she might like. Joan was a pleasure to chat with and she ALWAYS had a bright beautiful smile that would just light up her eyes! Her eyes were so beautiful.... I will cherish those happy moments with her. She just made my day when I would see her. I am sure your family will deeply miss this beautiful lady but know that she did brighten many peoples days and I was lucky enough to be one.

You will be missed every day. Your humor, spirit, and friendship were very much appreciated and will always be remembered. You also made a great effort with my family, Holly, Sean and Cindy; each of which are so sorry to hear of your passing. So much more than a co-worker, Joan had become like family to me. She was a one of a kind, sassy force of nature. We talked often about family, and how much she loved her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter and how she cherished her time with them. I'll miss her laugh, her wicked sense of humor, her grace and style and most of all her friendship. Rest in peace dear Joan.

There are no words to describe the sadness; similarly, there are few words which do justice to the wonderful person she was. Joan always knew how to make people smile, sometimes with just a look. She made people feel cared for at RiverStone. Joan was a very proud grandmother and that came through in many conversations I had with over the years. I will certainly miss her.

I am shocked as anyone to hear this sad news. I had the privilege of sharing a pod with Joan at work. She will forever be remembered for her haute couture, that endearing Chicago accent, and her office decorated with her two favorite things - portraits of her beautiful family and shamrocks.
