Joan Mochon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2015.
Joan Rita Mochon, age 72, died at home embraced in the love of her children, husband, and sister on December 6th, after a two year fight with cancer.
Born to Alfred W. and Emily C. (Vincent) Burke in 1943 in Gardner, MA, Joan was a 1961 graduate of Athol High School and received her LPN from Westborough State Hospital. Joan's nursing life and family life converged seamlessly with her unlimited capacity to extend unconditional love, support and laughter. Her uncanny humor and wildly mischievous personality remained intact until her final moments. She made us all laugh at this world, even at the ugliest moments. She taught acceptance over judgement; generosity over malevolence. Joan enjoyed the simple beauty found in everyday. Her weekends were spent adventuring on New England backroads with her sister Kathleen. She loved shopping for her grandchildren Connor, Mason, Mackenna, Parrish, Aiden, and Abbie at TJ Maxx. The front porch was her roost when she fed her bird friends. She found solace in poetry and happiness with her daughters. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Mochon; daughters Emily (Andy San Diego) Mochon, Kate (Justin Kirchoff) Mochon, Carrie (Steven) Whiteman; grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Putnam; and nieces and nephews. A celebration of Joan's life will be postponed until the Spring. Her ashes will be interred at the family plot in the Quabbin Park Cemetery and with family members.

elsewhere,
I'm sure of that,
and I intend to
end up there."

I'll always remember Joan, her robe, cigarette & bag of chips!!! She shared many life lessons with us at our young age! I loved being her neighbor & hated when I had to move away. She was a spirited lady who will be missed!

Our lives were significantly better because of my beautiful Auntie Joan. I will miss her wicked sense of humor so much. She always made us laugh, even in the moments when we didn't feel like we could smile. I am grateful for the time we shared as adults, but also as children. There are so many memories that I will cherish and I was honored to be a part of her last days one earth. I know that she had a joyful reunion with all of our loved ones lost.

Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all.
