I will be looking for your shooting star.Whenever Joannie would tell me about the beautifull memories of her mother,we were always outside together. And every time a shooting star would be in the sky.She said from the very first one that it was her mother watching over her.The look in her eyes and the tears of joy was a special moment for her.We were down the shore house and the sky was so beautifull that night.I myself had never seen a shooting star, and thought that moment to be a special one. When I went to her home and we were outside with her dog,we were talking about that night we seen the star. She told me she always looks up,and what happened next was a shooting star. Then we knew for sure it was her mother watching over her.I thought how amazing that the only time I saw a shooting star was when we where looking up and talking about it.The last time we were together was in new hope with the love of her life her dog buddy. We went shopping for hats, had lunch and walked in town with buddy. It was very cold that day,but it was a day I will never forget. We were there for a few hours and I was freezing, and as we got near the car to come home she says oh no I forgot"I have to feed the ducks"I told her I don't see any ducks and its too cold out even for them.Well she says come on I"ll show you where they are.OK JOANNIE lets go feed the ducks. We go down this street and there was the water and machines that you buy food for the ducks.I made sure she dressed warm for the day, hat, gloves, scarf. She stayed with buddy and sent me to get change for the duck food."I was now frozen".She starts throwing the food in the water and I told her I don"t see any ducks for miles. Then out of nowhere at least 40 ducks came to her and she was so happy.I will go and feed those ducks for my friend, and I will always be looking for her shooting star.always in my heart,Barbara

Anyone who had the absolute pleasure of knowing Joanie understands what a beautiful and special person she was. I worked with Joanie at GM and always enjoyed her great sense of humor and her interesting conversation. She once told me her plan was to travel the world and so it seems she did just that. A beautiful person, inside and out, and her passing is a loss to all that knew her! God bless her and her family!

Dear Tom, Uncle Dan, my cousins Jean, Dan, Mike, Jim and Patrick, and your families,

I want to tell you how much I loved Joan. Joan and Jean were the closest to sisters I had while growing up. Joan hung out with me despite my lesser years, and age matters when you are in grammar school. I remember we danced to music endlessly on top of your picnic table and sledded down your hill, me sitting behind her. We raked leaves and played in the piles. We used to pick daffodils and sit on the log over the creek down the hill from Grandmom and Grandpop's house. We wandered the neighborhood together, she, always with her dog, and we rode our bikes. She was always laughing and kind. I loved her then and although years and adulthood separate us, and now death, I love her still. She was beautiful in every way.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers, especially you Jean. It is a terrible thing to lose your other half.

Joanie, I love you.

Dear Tom and Family,
Joan and I met about six years ago though our mutual friend, Eileen, but it felt that we had known each other for years. Joan was kindhearted and loving and, Oh, such style! The three of us shared many laughs, heartfelt talks and good times. I'll miss her silly imitations, especially her delightful, "Bonjour!" when she answered the phone. Joan lit up the room! It was a joy to have known her and will be sadly missed.
Sincerely,
Michele Pannone

Morocco and Ungrady Family,

I am so sorry to hear of Joanie's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in your time of loss.

Tom, I loved every minute of it when I worked side by side with Joanie. She made the hours fly. Her eyes just sparkled when she spoke of you. We had so many great times and conversations together. Joanie always had such a positive outlook on life. In the summer, Joanie and I couldn't get started working until I came in with our 7-11 iced coffee.

Joanie knew no strangers, she treated even those she just met as if they were friends forever. Truly taken from everyone too soon. Rest in peace Joanie.

Dear Tom and Family, I was so blessed to meet Joan while enjoying ice cream at the Nutts Restaurant in September 2007. She came into my life at a most difficult time and definitely helped me through it. We were the best of friends and she was a joy to be around. I will miss her wonderful, caring, thoughtful, fun personality so much. I admired her for so many reasons including her love and attention to her family, friends, animals, and desire to travel the world. I am so sad but know that God has her in a better place now while she smiles down on us...and hopefully sends us some messages. I am also thankful to have met her fine family that she spoke so proudly of.

Dr. Tom Ungrady, Ungrady familty, and Morocco family; my heart is sad for your loss. I met Joan in General Motors, where we both drove a fork-lift truck. Two small girls, "toughing it out" in the world of grime, 9 minute breaks and lots of fabulous hard working people. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, and contagious laugh. I often found her in later years on the tow-path. Her with her dogs and I on my bike, loving the outdoors. Rest in peace Joanie,

Sincerely, Deb Smith
