Joan J. Vanek

Joan J. Vanek (nee Denzin), 73, of Sun City West, found peace on February 19, 2008 at the age of 73. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, and her dear sister, Joyce Maneage. Sisters-in-law Audrey Johnson, Doris Denzin, Ann Klauer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her. She is preceded in death by her brothers Roland Johnson and Roy Denzin. Wisconsin natives, Joan and Jerry moved to Sun City West in 1990 after Jerry retired from the Milwaukee Fire Department and Joan retired from General Motors, where she had been employed for over 30 years. Joan enthusiastically participated in the many actitivities offered in Sun City West, Jazzercising, tap dancing, and her early morning walks with her husband were her particular favorites. Joan and Jerry were married for 40 years and 9 months. They enjoyed many activities together, especially travel. Their wonderful journeys included England, Iceland, Italy, Germany, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Norway and Canada. Their favorite vacation was their annual return to Fence Lake in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. The trip always included a visit with Joan's sister, Joyce, and her nephew, Mike. Visitation and funeral mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West on Monday February 25, 2008 at 10:00am with the mass beginning at 11:00am.
