On Sunday morning, February 6, 2022, Mrs. Joan Winfield, 84, of Chesterfield, entered into eternal rest and peace at Southside Medical Center, Petersburg. A native of Dinwiddie, Virginia, she was born to the late Spergeon Fields and Annie Davis Jackson.
Mrs. Winfield was a beloved member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years before joining Mount Olivet Baptist Church in 2006, where she was a dedicated member and faithful servant of the Missionary Ministry. She owned her seamstress business for over 40 years and later retired to devote more time to family. She was known by many for her kind and gentle spirit.
She was married on August 4, 1958 to her loving husband, William Winfield Jr. and from that union, they were blessed with three children.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 63 years, William; two sons, Kyle (Kandace) of Chesterfield, VA, Travis of Henrico, VA; one daughter, Tracey of Henrico, VA; two adored granddaughters, Elle and Eden Fairfax, VA; one aunt, who was like a sister, Delilah Brown, Richmond; long-time friend, Lorine Owens Ruffin, of Stony Creek, VA, a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors, to include a devoted cousin, Levi Kordell Goode of Petersburg, VA.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Jameson McLaughlin, eulogist. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. Public viewing will be held on Friday February 11, 2022 from 12 Noon to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

I remember Mrs. Winfield from my childhood in Ettrick. I recall her riding bikes with the kids and coming past our home on Laurel Road. The Winfield family were a part of our community fabric. Thank you for the gift of your quiet but commanding presence and for your legacy.
