AVERY JoANN McDONALD
On February 19, 2015, a devoted wife and loving mother, she was a daughter of the late Mildred Lee and William Francis McDonald. JoAnn is survived by her family, husband, Harry; children, Eugenia "Genie", Annie (Alison Gross), Constantine, and William (Carla Van Impe); granddaughters, Sophie, Grace, and Lily; sisters, Nancy Gladson and Molly Shoemaker; and many nieces and nephews. JoAnn studied Latin at Bryn Mawr College and Somerville College, Oxford, and worked for the United States government in Washington, D.C. and as a university instructor in New Orleans before marrying and raising her family. Later in life, she worked as a high school Latin and computer teacher. A lover of music, Mom was a former member of the St. Paul Cathedral choir. She was kind, generous, self-sacrificing, and will be remembered for her compassion and gentleness of spirit. Friends will be received at JOHN A.
