To our Dear friend Soussan,
With tearful eyes, we heard your pain and suffer and saw you fade away, Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
A beautiful smile at rest
God broke our hearts to prove , He only takes the best...................

Last Saturday I lost a very dear friend of mine. Actually she was more than a friend...I was once married to her! I had known Soussan (Suzie) Nourbehesht for more than 30 years. We first started dating back in the fall of 1979. The photo of us here was taken around 1981. Soussan was a very intelligent, strong, ambitious, and witty woman. She taught me about Persian culture, food and language. She introduced me to many of her Persian friends who are still dear to me today. She helped me get through the UW with her moral support. Soussan had that way about her that you could do anything if you apply yourself to it. Though we didn't stay married we remained life long friends. Even my wife Maria became friends with Soussan in 2006 and helped her out in the final months of her life. Soussan fought a long courageous battle against breast cancer. She left this world way to young in her life. Though we miss her.....I know for sure she is smiling down on us!
Please accept our prayers and condolences from all of us!
Sincerely
The Brighenti Family

Where do I start my friend...I miss your voice, your daily calls, our arguments, and your witty jokes (not funny as I used to tell you!). You were part of my family. My girls, Kamiar, and I will miss you during our family dinners, birthdays, and other celebrations but you will be with us in spirit.

My dearest friend, Suzie,
As today unfolds, I slowly come to the realization that you are not with us anymore and it's so true that a friend who dies, it's something of us who dies. In my heart though, you will go on living forever, through our memories, our many many truthful exchanges, through your smile even when in pain, which I will never forget, through your thoughtfulness, and above all through your dignity and courage. You have taught me so much and I feel honored to have been within what you called the "inner circle of your dart board"!
You may have left us, but as Khalil Gibran says when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance. 'For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?" You are finally free of pain my friend and since we talked about this, I will remind you the following by Rumi:
"you mustn't be afraid of death
you're a deathless soul
you can't be kept in a dark grave
you're filled with God's glow"
Rest In Peace Dearest Soussan and Until we meet again!
I LOVE YOU!

Dear Soussan,
I'm so incredibly sad you're not with us anymore. I'm happy you're no longer suffering in pain but truly, what a tragic loss for us. Geoff and I will always remember you for your witty, always kind remarks. You always spoke the truth but were never unkind nor judgmental. We were all so lucky to have had you in our lives. I will always remember the day you came up to me and tried to comfort me after my mom's service. I had no idea you what you were going through at the time. I wish I did. Rest in peace, my friend.
