Joanne Feyereisen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 21, 2024.
Joanne Elois Feyereisen was born on February 20, 1946, in Washington D.C. Raised as the fourth of eight children by Aidan & Wilma Dewey, she never had a dull moment growing up. Between their many adventures around Alexandria, Virginia, Chesapeake Bay, and Sarasota, Florida, she had a lifetime of opportunities and experiences, culminating in endless stories to tell her kids and grandkids over the years.

After graduating from the University of Tampa with a B.S. in Physical Education, she married the love of her life, Paul S. Feyereisen. She dedicated her life to the development of her three children Paul, Melissa, and Drew, as well as the ongoing progression of her husband's military career as an Army officer. Even with life's ups and downs, they had many wonderful times in places like Texas, Georgia, Kansas, Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii, Morocco, and Oman.

Although her marriage ended in 1998, she continued to focus her love and attention on her family and friends. She was truly blessed to be surrounded by so many people who loved and accepted her. She without a doubt left the world a better place within her three children and seven grandchildren.

Growing up within a large family and as a military wife, she learned to insert herself into situations and found ways to help whenever she could. She was definitely born with the 'gift of gab'. She never really met a stranger and she always liked striking up conversations with just about anyone anywhere.

Although she lost a shortened battle with multiple myeloma, she lived a wonderful 76 years. To this amazing world, she left her three beautiful children, Paul, Melissa, and Drew as well as their wonderful spouses Julie, Ian and Melanie. Of course, let us not forget her heart, her pride and joy which reside within her grandchildren: Paul, Colin, Meagan, Annaleise, Braden, Olivia, and Liam.

"... I've lived a life that's full

I've travelled each and every highway

And more, much more

I did it, I did it my way" -Frank Sinatra

I will miss Joanne every day. I met her in the fall of 1996 when my son was dating her daughter at the Air Force Academy. We spent many hours together over the years taking care of Ian and Melissa children, traveling to Costa Rica and visiting. She was 9 months older than I, so we lived through the same years of history. When we talked on the phone we would be on for an hour or so. We shared 3 grandsons and were called the Two Moms. RIP Sweet friend
