In 1967 I lived with your family while waiting for the birth of my daughter, whom I found 3 years ago. Gene, I spoke to you in 2005 and you were very instrumental in reuniting me with my daughter who is now almost 42 living on Cape Cod. She has 3 children. I remember Joanne as a kind, non-judgmental, laughing woman who treated me as a daughter. I remember all of you kids treating me as a big sister and accepting me completely. I will never forget your kindness and my deepest sympathies to you Gene.

So many menories of Joanne and your family, in the big blue house and on Prudence Island. When I was growing up I wanted her to be my mom too!! I'm so glad I got to see you, Gene and Tom, at Eleanor's birthday party. My thoughts are with you now (and if it wasn't freezing rain here I'd be there in person). You're a lucky bunch to have had her in your lives. Love to all, Trish Hickey

There is so little one can do, so little one can say, to bring you consolation in the loss that's come your way. But may it help you at this time and bring some comfort , too, to know that others truly care and share your grief with you.

Joanne kindly agreed to substitute for me at Attleboro High School when I went out on maternity leave thirty one years ago. I remember her and her wonderful family with fondness. In sympathy.

Of all of my childhood memories, one of my most favorite is digging for clams on Prudence Island with Joanne and her family. She and my mother were good friends so frequent visits to North Main St were common. A cup of coffee delivered with a smile, and colorful conversation were always present. She was one of the most kindness individuals I have ever met. My thoughts and prayers are with you Gene and your family during this most difficult time.
