I just came across this (not by accident, though): It Is Well Within My Soul, by Rev. Harold T. Lewis, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/45368696-it-is-well-with-my-soul (pages 61-64).

I confess to having tears in my eyes throughout most of the early scenes in On the Basis of Sex, because they reminded me so much about Joanne's experience just a few years after that at the University of Maryland Law School, where there was a similar male:female ratio of students, comments such as You're taking the place that would have gone to someone now in Viet Nam, (Her response was always I wanted to go but they wouldn't let me.) and an experience similar to that of Ginsburg in applying for positions after law school.

Dear Bruce and Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy upon your loss of Joanne. As outstanding as she was as an attorney, she was an even better person.

I truly regret that I was not able to pay my respects in person at today's service, but after delivering the Eulogy at my Mother's funeral on Oct. 15, I tripped while stepping down from the podium and shattered my left hip when I landed on the Alter.

She will be greatly missed by her thousands of friends and colleagues. And, I believe, you will have many happy memories of Joanne to comfort you.

I have fond memories of Joanne and Bruce at the Churchill dinners. Joanne knew all of the great old Broadway songs and sang them with gusto at the piano. She was a lovely person. We will miss her.

Mr. Wilder, It was a shock this morning to hear of your loss. I am very sorry. I attended Calvary at the same services as your wife, and sat with her on the Parish Council for a number of years. I have had so many good conversations with Joanne throughout that time, and I have always been so impressed with her thoughtfulness and caring.
