Jodi Brotherton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2025.
Jodi Ellen Brotherton (née Taylor), 62, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away on April 22, 2025, in Radford, Virginia. Born on August 16, 1962, in Lenoir, North Carolina, she lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and the many people fortunate enough to know her.

Jodi graduated from Hibriten High School in Lenoir, North Carolina. She went on to build a fulfilling career with Walmart Stores Inc., where she worked for 25 years in both Lenoir, NC and Marion, VA. Throughout her tenure, she held numerous roles and took on special projects at various locations-always bringing commitment and attention to detail to every task.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Scott Brotherton; her daughter, Caitlin Williams (Christian); and her cherished granddaughter, Arlie Williams. Jodi also leaves behind her sister Tonya Callaway; sister-in-law Tracy Travis; nephews Chase Taylor and Cameron Travis; niece Taylor Travis; father-in-law Dave Brotherton; mother-in-law Janice Brotherton; lifetime friend Jeana Parris; and half-brother Joey Richard Taylor Jr.

Jodi was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Smith Bowman, and her father, Joey Richard Taylor Sr.

Those who knew Jodi will remember her as a friend to many-someone who welcomed others with warmth and generosity. She was often described as a surrogate mother to her daughter's friends and was known for being quick to laugh and charitable without needing recognition. Her love for family extended beyond people to include her cats and especially her beloved dog Pebbles.

In her free time, Jodi enjoyed yard work, traveling to new places, exploring museums, and attending live theater performances. These passions reflected her appreciation for beauty in both nature and the arts.

May Jodi's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

Jodi's wish to have her body donated to science was fulfilled. A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
