Jody Ann Cies

Jody Ann (Streng) Cies of Richardson, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 69.

Jody was born October 3, 1955, to Lloyd and Gloria Streng in Dubuque, Iowa, where she attended Trinity Catholic School and Wahlert High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Dubuque.

On November 25, 1978, she married Thomas Cies at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque, and they made their home and raised their family in Richardson for 47 years.

A gifted violinist, Jody spent 30 years as an orchestra teacher in Dallas-area schools before retiring in 2016. She also performed with the Garland Orchestra and was a member of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra for three decades.

She is survived by her husband Thomas; son Andrew (wife Liz, daughter Cecilia); daughter Rachel (husband Jason, children Luke and Grace); father Lloyd Streng; and brothers David and Terry Streng. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alana Beth Cies (d. 1993) and mother Gloria Streng (d. 2017).

A celebration of life service will be held on October 18, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Town North Presbyterian Church in Richardson, Texas. She will be interred at Restland Funeral Home & Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
