I had the good fortune to join the Dudley Hair Care sales team in 1995. "I could pass up a shoe store but never a book store," Mr. Dudley once said, if I recall correctly. He also said that he did not have to spend time coordinating multicolored socks with his suit because all of his socks were either brown or black. There are bridges and roads, he said. I learned how to say "I am," "I can," and "I will" from him. Mr. and Mrs. Dudley sincerely desired that all those working with Dudley Hair Care products would rise to their highest potential to serve others. In a $54 billion industry, it was crucial for cosmetologists to recognize their value as professionals. Mr. Dudley recognized that in order to love others, one must first love oneself. Mr. Dudley's book, Walk by Faith, is one of my treasures. Where Is Your Faith, a gospel song by James Cleveland, comes to mind when I read the title. Say you got a problem, tell me about it is a line from this song. It seems like Mr. Dudley enjoyed hearing about issues because faith in God would provide a solution. I will always remember a lot of salespeople because of Mr. Dudley, especially Michael and Ramona. Winning the "speakers bureau" against the legendary Michael is among my favorite memories of being a "newbie" on the sales force. And, naturally, his spouse and children, for the great sacrifices they made in order to share their loved one with so many others. In my opinion, Mr. Dudley belongs with the visionaries, such as Martin, Malcolm, Medgar, Marley, and most definitely Mr. Fuller. I am forever grateful to have met anyone associated with Dudley Hair Care products. To all that may read this post: I love you, and there is nothing you can do about it. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Joe Dudley.

On behalf of the Bronner Business Institute family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Dudley family and those who knew him best. Mr. Dudley accepted our invitation to speak during the culmination of our 2007 business plan competition. He was joined by Bronner Bros. President Bernard Bronner and matriarch Robbie Bronner to share their respective pathways towards success in the hair care and beauty industry. I remember Mr. Dudley as an inspiring voice that night for building and protecting your legacy in business. "Come on Joe, how much for your business?", said one aggressive suitor. Joe Dudley said he responded "It is not for sale. How much for your eyes?"

Mr Joe Dudley was indeed a light in this world. He was a vessel that God used to ignite the light in so many people's lives, including mine. I will always be grateful for the opportunities that I was exposed to in the beauty industry through this man , his former wife and so many others at Dudley Products Inc.
My condolences to the family. May God bless you all with comfort and rest in knowing that he is at rest. No more toiling in this life. Continue to let your light shine on this side.

Dear family of Dr. Joe L. Dudley, Sr.
Please accept my sincerest condolences as you celebrate and remember your dear father, grandfather, sibling and great friend. I knew of Dr. Dudley my entire life and was personally introduced to him by Dr. Willie H, Bailey, Sr. In the early 1990s.
Dr. Dudley never forgot initially meeting me, although he met thousands of people weekly. I was invited back for many visits, introduced to many others including Mr. John Ray & Mrs. Rosie. A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Winston Salem, NC at the time, I met many others affiliated with Dr. Dudley.
There was NEVER a time I needed a speaker, advice or advice I sought for others that Dr. Dudley did not oblige. Even when his health began to deteriorate, Dr. Dudley made every effort to be present and serve community.
We even joked and laughed about our Winston Salem State University (WSSU) / NC A & T SU rivalry.
Dr. Joseph Louis Dudley shared his personal story, inspired me and so many others. His generosity and the many lessons he taught and shared will NEVER be forgotten, nor taken for granted.
Rest Peacefully Dr. Dudley! You have run a race not afforded to many and left this earth far better than you found it!
