Please pray for my family as we mourn over a great man, but celebrate his wonderful long life. He was 92, and he went peacefully, but it doesn't hurt any less that I couldn't see him one last time. The last time would have never been enough, I just wish he would have gotten to meet Matthew and rock him like he rocked me and rocked Thomas as a baby. I wish I could be in Dallas with all of you. I Love you and will never forget what a blessing he was to our family.

It is so bittersweet. So many great times with Joe & Lois. So much laughter, & a few tears. Many conversations of Jesus & his grace. Thank you for opening the door of the grace of Jesus. They taught me to drink coffee bc there was always coffee brewing or she would start a fresh one. We would sit in the kitchen &, talk ,laugh, try to solve problems...oh & Joe's stories. We will all miss sweet Joe. What a celebration of his life... so glad I was introduced to this family.

Joe or as I called him, tight, was a great example of the greatest generation. He always had an Alabama spin on things. His joyful smile& laugh was overwhelmingly contagious as well as just plain funny. I will miss this while I am still living an earthly life. As for my example, friend,& " tight", he is now with our Rock, Protector, & Glorious Saviour Jesus Christ!!! I know he is celebrating with all that have gone on before him& heaven gained another saint. Love you "tight" my brother& will see you again one day!!

Much love, thoughts and prayers. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Joe was a wonderful Christian, husband, & father! I first met Joe when I became friends at Adamson High school with his daughter Glenda, 50 + years ago. He & Lois always made me feel so welcome in their home. This wonderful family touched my life in a special way. My love & prayers for you all. Carolyn Terry Elkins
