FERRELL, JOE RAYMOND, beloved husband, father, Poppi and Coach passed away August 14, 2014 at age 85 in Garland, Texas. He was born February 23, 1929 in Denton, Texas to Lee Ferrell and Velia Ferrell (Smith). He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Ferrell; in-laws, Bill and Velma Givens (Marshall). Joe is survived by the love of his life of 62 years, Joyce Ferrell (Givens); son and wife, Michael and Julie Ferrell; son and wife, Lee and Melanie Ferrell; brother and wife, George and Carol Ferrell; brother and wife, Dennis and Susan Ferrell; one granddaughter and husband, Kelly and Bobby Hitt; two grandsons; Hunter Ferrell and Slater Ferrell; two great-grandchildren; Natalie Crawford and Noah Crawford. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp and was member of the Chosin Few. He attended Crozier Tech and was President of the 1947 graduating class and participated in football and track. Joe graduated from North Texas State University in 1955. He was a member of the NTSU football team and Talons fraternity. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and later earned his Master's degree. Joe was an educator and coach in both the Dallas ISD and Garland ISD for 38 years, touching the lives of many young men and women. Joe loved the outdoors as well as fishing, playing golf and dancing, but his greatest love was football. He loved his Lord and Savior and is now in is heavenly home. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6 -8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel.

Please know prayers are being lifted up for Coach Ferrell and the family. I have fond memories of his support for all sports at Benjamin Franklin Jr. High. We have lost a fine man.
