We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Joel A. Ramirez US Army Specialist.

To the family of PFC Joel A. Ramirez. I am a motorcycle rider in Illinois and today I rode with Pride in the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run. And I had the honor and privilege of riding with Joel. Each rider is given a name tag of a fallen solider, and we ride to Marseilles, IL to the Middle East Conflict Memorial Wall where each and every solider's name is inscribed on the wall. While out to, I bowed my head has his name was called and added to the wall. I thank you, and Joel for your sacrifice. Please know that Joel is not forgotten. If any member of his family wishes to contact me, please do. I would be more than happy to make a trip back down to the wall to get a rubbing of his name to send to you, along with his dog tag. If you choose not to, that is fine. I have the dog tags of all the soliders I have ridden for on my bike. They ride with me and Freedom (my patriotic stuffed dog) whenever we take the bike out. I have had your son on my mind since I heard it on the news.I do know what you are feeling. I didn`t know your son. All 3 of my kids went to Waxahachie HS, youngest is still there. I have heard wonderful things about his mom and dad though. As they say, the apple doesn`t fall ar from the tree, so I know he was a blessing. I lost my oldest son when he was 20 so I know how it hurts. God be with you during these awful times. Know that your son paid the ultimate price for what so many take for granted, and is truly a hero in my eyes. God keep his loving arms around you and give you his stength in the days ahead.

To the Ramirez family...I truly am deeply sorry for yours and our lost. He was a talented, funny, hard working good friend. I am glad to have worked with him and Daniel. He always brighten my day at "The Box" whenever I was having a stressful day or bad day. I remember him coming in to visit me back in 2009 at work and telling me how he changed a lot for the better. I couldnt have been and still proud of him. With much love and deep sincere always.

There are some things that people can say about Joel, mine is that he had skin like iron. He was the one guy who noone could hurt. We grew up together in highschool and sadly grew apart after I graduated. My prayers go out to Chano and Daniel and the family. I wish I could make it back home for the funeral. Joel, I salute you. I can still remember everytime we hung out and played soccer together and all those times we would wrestle and mess around in the locker room during high school. I just cant believe ur gone bubba. I really wish this was just a big mistake. You will always remain in my heart as not only a great fried but a TRUE HERO. May you be resting in GODs loving arms.
