Joel Thomas Mitchell Bamford

I know this is a very late post, but I just read of the passing of Dr. Bamford in a magazine article about Maria. I used to assist Dr. Bamford on his home grown clinical trial for the treatment of Rosacea; the protocol was devised completely by him. He was one of the nicest and approachable doctors I've worked with. I've always appreciated his candor and his ideas as a researcher along with his eclectic life. I was grateful and honored to have worked on that project for him. Wishing all of Dr. Bamford's family peace and healing.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Joel´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS George Washington SSBN-598.

Worked with Joel at SMDC and was also a patient. Loved his sense of humor!!! My condolences to family and close friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our parents were friends at St Paul's, and I will always remember their kindness and generosity. It is hard for me to believe that they are no longer here with us. I'm sending you virtual hugs in this difficult time.

Joel and I were friends in high school. He was smart, kind, motivated, and fun to be with. Joel was a very fine man.
My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed so much. Sending love and strength.

I knew Marilyn just a little bit, first from discussing pugs on the internet then through men's nonviolence work in Duluth. I met and got to know Joel through Domestic Abuse Intervention Program men's groups and a shared interest in restorative justice. Since November I had been driving him to and from a Men as Peacemakers domestic violence restorative circle we both volunteered in. It was a lot of fun to hear his stories about family and his perspectives on the world. I am grateful to have spent that time around him. I hope everyone who loves him is doing as well as possible

I worked with Joel at the Duluth Clinic from 2006 to 2008. Joel was such a a kind soul and went out of his way to make me feel welcome and comfortable in a new environment. Joel would often take me to lunch or ask me out to his lake home for a good meal and wonderful conversation with he and his lovely wife. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. My sincerest condolences to his family. He will be missed!

I'd been driving him to and from circles on Tuesday nights since November or so, and it was really fun to listen to him talk about his family, his work, and his perspectives on the world. I feel grateful to have known him for a short while. I hope everyone who loves him is doing as well as possible.

I was so sad to hear of Joel´s passing. He was my neighbor who came last summer and sat in our backyard enjoying the flowers. As we chatted, I told him I am an English teacher, and he told me that his daughter wrote a book for young adults. The next day a copy of the book was on my doorstep. At a Christmas time he brought us some of his snicker doodle cookies. He always waved to me from across the street when I ran by. I was so looking forward to seeing him in my garden again this summer - and I suspect I will when I see a butterfly sail by.

Dr Bamford graciously volunteered a week of his time, along with his young family to serve as health provider at Boy Scout Camp Jamar near Danbury Wisconsin back in the 1970's.
