Joel, my older cousin, was someone I always looked up to when my family (the Robert's from NY) visited in the summers back in the 50's and 60's. I loved his sense of humor and his warmth. He was always fun to be around. After the 60's I only saw him occasionally at family reunions through the 90's. I was fortunate to see him in 2013 and 2014 when he seemed much like the cousin I knew way back when. I will always think of him fondly and will miss his gentle smile, warmth, and sense of humor.

One of my favorite memories of Joel is teasing and laughing with him while decorating the church for Christmas services. I will cherish those memories and miss him terribly. I'm sure he's found everlasting peace with the Lord.

Dear Gensler Family -- I haven't been on Camp Luther Staff for many years, but I will always remember the smile, bright eyes and warm hugs from Joel when the Wheeling van would arrive! God's Light was shining in and through him to all God's children. May this love of God and family be his legacy now through each of you. Peace & Love, Pat Franklin

So sorry and saddened to read of Joel's passing. I fondly remember Joel as a friend and football teammate at Huntington East High School in the late 60's. He was one of the premier high school athletes in the tri-state area during that time. Joel had it all..,blazing speed, strength, agility , toughness, and a "can win attitude always. Off the field he was a very high character guy always with an encouraging word especially to the younger guys on the team . My condolences to Joel's' family during this very difficult time
