Joel was a special person in my life and in my profession. He was a true and devoted friend and a wonderfully talented singer and musician who supported not only me personally, but the church, the choir, and the music community in Kansas City. We have all moved on but we will never forget this wonderful friend, Joel Mosher.

We are so sad to hearing about Joel's passing. Greg was a fraternity brother at Drake and we had the pleasure of having Joel sing at our wedding in March 1981. It was an honor to have him be a part of our special day and not an anniversary goes by, that I don't remember his voice and kindness. We are truly sorry for your loss.

Andrea and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Joel's passing. I was in high school with him and we were in Mimes together. What a wonderful, warm, and incredibly talented person he was. I am better for having known him, though I haven't seen him for probably thirty years. I am so sorry for your loss- my deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Andrea and family,
I have just heard about Joel's passing, and I am so very sorry that we all have lost such a good man. Joel and Tom Whitaker and I used to go to lunch together so often at STK, as young associates. He was such an uninhibited and fun guy, and we shared a lot of goofy times. I am grateful to have been part of your wedding, and will never forget that. He felt so lucky to have found you. My thoughts are with you. Fondly, Lisa Eckold and family

I have just learned of Joel's death and am saddened. I wish to express my deepest sorrow to you and your family. I went to school with Joel threw HS. He was one of the "great" guys. Always had a good thing to say a smile on his face and humor to share. His voice was a heavenly gift. God's Peace be with you.

Andrea, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Joel. He was an incredibly thoughtful, witty, and benevolent man who we will truly miss. You and Joel were always so gracious to invite us along to KU games, and we very much enjoyed spending time with you both. We'll continue to pray that God will bring you peace.

Andrea-- I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Joel in high school, when he was a member of the Westminster Church choir program. My sister, Jennifer Carr Burtwistle, was also a good friend of his. I was in Jeff's class in high school, and have good memories of both of them. In the picture, my daughter Christy is on the left, then myself, Virginia Carr (mother), and Jennifer.
I will think of you in my prayers.

Andrea and Family:
Such sad news, and my heartfelt condolences to all of you. I was in Joel's class at Franklin, Roosevelt, and Drake Law. Joel was such a fun, intelligent, great guy. The countless hours we spent in all those choirs and groups, my bass, his tenor. It brings back so many great memories. One of many was from our small singing group at Roosevelt, The Early Dawn. If you want a good laugh, go back and look at the pictures. Supposedly, it was quite an honor to be selected for the group, but it sure didn't feel like it in those horrible matching outfits. Joel and I were the only ones who truly hated the outfits, so we had lots of laughs over them. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was an honor and pleasure to have spent so much time with Joel, and to be graced by a talent and spirit that made our world a better place, no matter our ages.

To Andrea and the the rest of Joel's family, I express my deepest condolences on the passing of my friend and colleague, Joel. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend many years working closely with Joel on many cases, and legal education programs, as well as working with the American Bar Association Committees. He was a wonderful ( to say the least) lawyer: Skilled, energetic, diligent, and resourceful. I count my time with him as one of the very most special during the time that I was practicing law. I also was pleased to have had the opportunity to share some of his singing presentations, and he was a truly wonderful performer. He will be sorely missed, and I extend my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you, both now and in the future months and years. God Bless and keep you all.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to have Joel's Professional skill and friendship available to me during the many years that we practiced law together, and participated in so many cases, and legal education endeavors. Joel was one of a kind. He was energetic, bright, committed, and extremely skilled. His music talents were wonderful as well, and I had the opportunity to share those from time to time. He leaves a wonderful legacy in our memories of him. We will not forget him. God Bless you all, and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during the coming days and years.
Your Friend,

Ruth, Jeff, Andrea, and family,

It is rare that I am without words. The loss of my dearest and oldest friend and confident stilled my voice for a while this week. I am sure you understand.

Joel was extraordinary. After I heard of his passing I went and found some old boxes with pictures of our Westminster adventures. He spent one Junior High Evening teaching Laurie Betts and I the dinasaur song from pre-school on our way to Junior High Church choir. Joel and I had many heart to heart talks over the years about God, about life, about everything. In 1972 Joel helped me during a very rough and fragile time. He knew I was struggling, and every day he would see me in the Franklin Junior High hallways he would belt out in full baritone and sing to me, as if I was actually special. Of course, as one reads through these condolences, Joel made everyone feel unique and special. I will miss him and that incredibly wonderful baritone laugh and his tender empathy for anyone struggling. He was a delight and a joy and I will miss him the rest of my life. God bless all of you for sharing Joel with all of us and I will keep you in my prayers for many weeks to come.

Dear Andrea,
I knew your wonderful, thoughtful, talented husband from our junior high years through Drake and always enjoyed seeing him in classes, on campus or performing on stage. Joel totally loved life and if you were around him, his passions could easily become your own-he was so convincing! He will certainly be missed; I will keep all of you in my prayers.

My sympathy goes out to Joel's family. I had the opportunity to know and sing with him in the St. Peter's church choir in the 1980's. His heart and humor were as big as his beautiful voice. I'm glad to see he found much happiness in marriage. Though your hearts must be heavy, I pray you find solace in knowing how many lives he has touched. Heaven has gained a true angel.

March 10, 2012

Andrea and family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy. Although I had not seen Joel in many years, when I think of my favorite memories from high school, Joel was a part of them. Whether it was involvement in the various choral groups and musical productions from Roosevelt High School; singing in the High Choir at Westminster Church; or working at the Ingersoll Theater, Joel was there. To me, Joel was a kind, talented force of nature, larger than life, and someone I greatly admired.

Andrea, Jeff, and Mrs. Mosher,

I was so sorry to read about Joel's death. He was my "oldest" friend; I have known him longer than I have known anyone else my age. We hadn't seen each other since our Drake years or a Roosevelt reunion, but we corresponded recently over a magazine article about a red 1963 Corvair similar to the one he drove in high school. I'll always remember when Joel was voted "most likely to succeed" at Franklin Junior High. They certainly got that right! All of us knew Joel would go on to great things. His varied talents knew no bounds, and it was an honor to know him. My deepest sympathies to all of you.

Andrea,
Words don't seem sufficient to express how sorry and sadden we are about Joel's passing. While we've only known you all for a short time, you and Joel's warm welcoming demeanor made us feel like lifelong friends. We will sorely miss hearing Joel's beautiful voice echo the Rock Chalk chant (and every other KU song :) )through AFH. Joel is certainly gone way too soon and will be missed dearly. You are in our everyday thoughts and prayers Andrea. With Love,

Ruth, Jeff & family: I have so many fond memories of Joel while growing up in Des Moines, whether singing in the choir at Westminster, working with him in theatrical productions at Roosevelt, or just having him as a friend. It is no surprise at all that he turned out to be such a stellar lawyer, husband, father, and friend. He will be truly missed. I'm thinking of you Ruth, knowing how devoted you have always been to your talented sons. May God bless and keep you all.

I was sad to hear of Joel's passing. I think that I met Joel when we were 6 or7 years old, and played on the same Little league teams, Joel kept us loose with his witty remarks. As we continued on his remarkable talents for singing became clear, I probably only went to one play at Roosevelt and it was the one that Joel was the star. He sang "if I were A Rich Man" and it seems from what I've read today about his family , friends, and colleagues , he was.
