I first met Mr Ahern when I was a young teenager. He was a patrol officer where I lived in south Oxnard. One time and a buddy were lighting fireworks at the park next to e.o. Green. Next thing I know, Mr Ahern was running towards us holding his baton in the air while yelling at us. We were frozen in fear. He handcuffed us and took us home to our parents. Mr Ahern was very firm, but fair in his treatment of us. A few years later I worked with him as a police cadet and got to know him a bit better. He was a good man and I am certain his influence on me contributed to my 33 years of success in law enforcement with the Sheriff´s Office. Thank you John.

Dear Martha and family,
I was saddened to learn of John´s passing! He was such a neat guy! He became one of Bill´s favorites in both Detectives and Motors. His work ethic was beyond the ordinary and that made quite an impression.
I´m sorry I´ve lost touch with you both but I´ve always counted you as great friends always willing to help out.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

i´m so saddened to hear of John´s passing. John, there are a few of us that grew up together, riding bicycles all over Pt. Hueneme and of course on to Hueneme High School, graduating, getting married and starting our own families. You, my friend, was always the quietest and always always the sweetest of the lot of us. My sincerest condolences to Martha, your children, Grandchildren and all who lost such a sweet soul. I know John will be looking over you all. RIP my friend
